Victor makes the only conibear. All others are bodygrip traps.
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Are Buteras (BMI) still being made? I like their 110 and if retooling I would consider them. I have mostly Duke they work as needed.

Must be a Canadian thing. They didn't fit on H stands they are over priced and the origanl triggers were junk. And for some reason I had more live coon In those traps then I did with my Dukes. The only thing they had going for them were the safeties. I use mine on H stands all the time. They fit perfectly and are stabilized rock solid on them. Triggers are great too. The springs don't go around the corners either making them a tangled fricken mess in the truck to straighten out. They catch critters that would have gotten away too with their complete closure, rats, beaver and otters by the tail in 330s, beaver mink and rats and coons by the foot in 220s, and before you say it, I have not seen any more damage to coons caught that way than in a bigger foot trap like a #2 victor that many use for rats and mink these days. Their safeties are awesome too. He said the "Best" not the cheapest.

I bet 2 out of 3 experienced water trappers in Ontario have settled on magnum belisles when buying new. Very good value for the money IMO. I believe it's best to find a trap manufacturer you like and stick to it. Over time you get to know all the little idiosyncrasies about your brand, strengths and weaknesses and can apply your skill accordingly.

Sauvageaus are my favorite, followed by Belisle. Belisles tend to get bent jaws every once in a while, but are easy to bend back. These traps work as footholds if the animal somehow gets his foot to set off the trap before his head gets in there. Other brands not so much.

In my opinion-using all 3-the best are sauvageau,LDL,and Belisle in that order. What gives the belisle the advantage is cost. They are the cheapest to buy of the 3. The best marten trap is the LDL,but I use some belisles for marten also. I use both belisles and LDL for beaver, with a bunch of older bmi and victor series ones thrown in for nuisance trapping.
On a sidenote-the belisle safetys are great on beaver sets, but are a pain in marten boxes. The safetys have to be slid down the spring arm for the trap to fit the narrow slots. This is not so much of an issue when you wax them.
There is no difference with using any of the same size traps on our under ice beaver superstands. The 11 + 12 inch sauvageaus are too big though.

I run mostly belisles and dukes 330s I still have a few and like the true 10X10 BMIs. My favorites are belisles because they are just easier and more versitle . The dukes have superior springs to most all the others . They are the strongest and keep their temper for decades eaven with the safeties set all summer I just noticed your name LOL, I didn't mean to steal your name, mine is a running joke about me with my friends

Live coon in a Belisle extremely unlikely unless your Belisles has problems which is extremely rare almost never happens. The Belisle catches don't even move an inch. The original triggers are deadly and amazing. Idk why but you are definitely a hater or you don't know how to use them. Belisle traps are the best body grips on the planet by far.
