What are you’re thoughts on using coyote drags on the bottom of a chain drowning rig for beaver? I’m thinking they’d save me weight carrying them in, they’d lock up good on the bottom & I could also use them on coyotes too in foothold season . Also if they are a good idea what weight drag would you suggest?

Don't know how well they'd work as an anchor stake. Plus you'd better hope it doesn't snag a root in deep water. If you want to long chain beaver they can work well if you prehook it.

I guess It would depend on the bottom. But I wouldn't use them for beaver trapping to many things could go wrong.

Paul taught us about using drags on dry land for beavers, as well.
Very may well work. Please test it out and let us know!

I use drags to long chain beaver when all of my beaver chain rigs are in use with a T bar through the eye of the drag. That set up saved me from loosing a trap and chain once. A beaver got caught and coyote or coyotes came along and killed the beaver. The T bar pulled out of the mud and the drag hung up about twenty yards from the seen of the crime.

Did it in a pinch one time. Got a big beaver but couldnt retrieve the drag cause it hooked up to good. Won't do it again. Water came up and it was unsafe to get it for a long time.
