I just had a conibear accident, so I thought I would ask, I thought maybe the longspring? because you could hold it by the ends.

thanks

Both are equally as safe as long as you keep your booger hooks out of the jaws. If your pan tension is right and you don’t go sticking your hands where they don’t belong you won’t have a problem.

That said, I feel like long springs are easier to get off your hand one-handed.

Coilsprings are a lot easier to get out of, just step on the springs. Easier to bed, too.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Treat all traps like a gun-keep all your body parts out of the line of fire at all times.

On larger conibear type traps always use a SAFETY GRIP sold at trapper supply shops. & always take it off LAST after set is complete. (sometimes on smaller conis too :D)

Till that day.....

I remember the first time I set a # 3 Bridger. Caught myself 3 times before I got it bedded. I must admit that my pride was hurt a lot more than my hand.

I prefer coil springs all the way around and have never had one bite me that actually hurt yet so that’s a good thing!

I am also fortunate that I have not joined the 330 club but I’m sure my time is coming

I only got myself once this year, a fully modified Bridger #3. I gotta say, those smooth laminated jaws sure make it hurt a lot less!

I don’t know how many times I’ve set and bedded these 650’s over the years but if you get careless once , this can happen !

Only run MB550’s. Whole hand ain’t that big of a deal. One finger will make you say a few words, especially if it’s anchored and you jump!!!
