I use pink surveyors tape on a branch with the lure combo written on it. It helps out when you are experimenting with lures.

Set the trap on the coon trail. No reason for flagging.

Johnny Sneakum knows what flagging tape means. I don't use it unless I'm on property I know for sure no one else can access

If you're in more open areas that don't have defined trails when using DPS or cages as they don't have much visual attraction.

As for marking sets, I almost never flag at the set. It's usually well away from it unless it's snares then I'll mark on top of those.

On parts of my lines that i check before first light i use reflective tacks sometimes

After loosing track of a couple traps last season I never did find I use green flaging tape it it's a large area that's getting a lot of traps especially it its multi species line. I'm also distracted by my 8 & 10 year old trapping partners at times. Sometimes they have reminded me of one I forgot about.

If I'm only putting out a few sets in a spot and moving to a new location nope I can remember those.

If you have a spot that is safe from theft you might try this after a spot seems to go dead. At the woods edge at the corners hang a 5foot piece of the reflective Christmas garland only secure the top so any breeze will move it.. keep the bottom about 2 feet from the ground. Set a couple dp's near it.

I flag a lot of sets and I flag them right at the trap site Reason being I can drive Into a area and check from the truck. If the flagging Is gone I know I have made a catch. When I was trail trapping with BGs I would get some of those survey flags. I'd roll up the flag part stick the wire In the ground right next to the BG and place the rolled up part of the flag under the BG trigger. When the trap fired the flag would unroll It was just lie checking tip ups.

I marked my general set locations along the trail or road with blue and yellow ribbon. When the set is active (set) I add a red ribbon to roadside ribbons plus a yellow ribbon (commonly used by forestry) at the actual set.. In the case of bait station snares I mark the number of snares on the road ribbon and each individual snare with a blaze orange painted clothes pin, pinned on a limb or bush above or near the snare, no fluttering ribbon.

When I stake public rat marshes I use 3 or 4 different stakes. Then when the next trapper comes along he thinks there are at least 4 trappers there already. Sometimes that cuts down on the competition.
I like to collect those golden rod and those mullein(SP) stalks. I paint the ends white for when there Isn't any snow. And a touch of green for snow conditions. Drive a pilot hole with your stake and plant a stalk.

For row trapping, hang a bright ink bra across the road, no one notices the trap.

Blue painters tape is easy to see if you're looking for it but not if you're just driving by. It lasts a LONG time even years, unlike flagging. Got this tip from the owner of RoadRunner Snares. Works great.

I assumed you were referring to flagging as attracting, yes I do. No, I do not flag any set to tell me where the set is except for our tidewater muskrat sets.
