I wouldn't recommend making your own attractors if you are a beginner. When you're a beginner, there are tons of things one can do wrong. Bad locations (whether that's macro, intermediate, or micro location,) improper trap bedding, improper trap placement, bad or suspicious looking sets, etc, etc, etc. If you're making your own attractors, that is one more thing that can be wrong. Buy some proven professionally made attractors and you'll be glad you did. I would recommend Mark June's lures if your predator trapping. They are some of the best out there.
If you can't buy anything else, as far as attractors go,
get coyote, red fox, and bobcat urine, definitely! Urine is one of the best attractors out there, and it's totally natural. I love Ernest Winter's urines (

Top Quality. southernsnares.com also has good urine for a bargain price!
During my 1st & 2nd trapping seasons I wanted to make my own attractors too. I did and failed miserably. I caught a total of 5 coyotes, 7 bobcats, and 1 fox in the span of 2 seasons (our seasons are 5 months long) and only one out of all of those were on stuff I made. The rest came of professionally made stuff.
I will say one thing though; lots of animals love bacon grease! Good luck, Jakob!
