A toggle on the end of a cable and slipping it through a hole in something like the canadians did has been around forever the one french canadian used to say it was "of the swivel" when used that way. When I came up with the idea of putting it on the cable and putting a loop on the end of the cable 14 years ago (before you where a trapperman member) I sold some to Dean Jr and TJ and shared it on trapperman both of them like them and bought more and TJ has endorsed them on here for me multiple times he did a few months ago when the subject was brought up. The old way wasn't reliable and could conceviably come undone if jiggled around enough Alaska Range Trapping Supply sells that idea. The H.O.T. Latch setup I came up with can NOT ever come undone it is impossible! I caught a big moose in a #9 years ago in a trail set and it broke the weld on the #9 swivel and got away with my #9 trap but the H.O.T. latch was just fine! When I first made them I tested them by pulling them apart with a porta power and the cable will fail every time my H.O.T. Latch always held up!

I like the idea, especially for large traps and snares. My marten sets are pretty much "permanent", so have a large cable staple partially embedded on poles, and 120's all have small beaners. Un-snap a catch, snap on a new trap, done.
Just doing what I want now.

Interesting in not coming unhooked and strength difference. Cool product! I agree. Intriguing. They seem quite versatile.

Yep, I have a bunch of them, and got some in several different sizes. Use them for trapping and a bunch of other things as well. I have them in the boat, truck, cabin, snow machine, and of course in all my trapping stuff. They definitely come in handy. I had made some home made ones that worked great for what I was doing, but Ted's are a step up from the ones I had done. They would also be great if you are using coni's for Marten, so you could quickly change out a trap and keep moving. My 2 cents from using them. -TJ
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs.
