That's one way to break in your new machine and wear some of the new off!
No Barbie dolly snow machines for most of us, they work for a living, just need to keep them maintained.
thanks for your info and good luck.

Hey guys, been pretty slow on the line but still putting up a little fur. Weather has been weird for sure. That overflow that I got stuck in behind the cabin has now came into the yard under the shop and filled the outhouse hole full. This is something way new out there. I have a lot of wolf gear to chop out this week. Finally picked up another wolf, 90# gray female in a 5/64" 1x19 snare with Senneker triggered kill spring. Looked like 8 in the pack and landed her first and the rest left. [Linked Image]
Been hauling freight for some friends and that is going well. Putting on some extra miles as to avoid the canyon overflow. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]

Took Stacey out on Sunday to pick up the 19 Expeditoin Sport. Snowing and blowing. Decided to try out Eric's new groomer to see how it did. Pulled it 68 miles and 2 miles from the truck I do this. [Linked Image]
HFT showed up yesterday and we are heading out in the morning for an adventure. Ted is coming up today buying skulls, furs and the like so we will run in and see him. That female wolf should be ready to skin today also.

Ouch that groomer took a hit!

Was that Chad when you got the lynx from the cabin?

Pretty cool being able to shoot 4 lynx in a season! Hope the pack comes back for you after you get your gear in working order.

Good evening trappers. HFT and I got in from the mountains this afternoon. Not a good run for fur but a good run for sure. Got some new snow and overflow. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
We put on a lot of miles and finally found some wolf sign. The overflow builds quick and didn't put any gear on the creek. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Found their kill the next day and John and I hung a few snares for them. Has great potential if they return. Missed on a few set down river and pulled some gear due to river fallouts. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
We saw a ton of wolverine tracks this week and followed one for miles up into the high country. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Remember when I said I always follow the wolves up the river when breaking trail? Well that isn't true anymore.

The overflow behind the cabin that I'd got stuck in is now froze up back there and heading for the cabin at a fast rate. Not sure what I'm gonna do as of yet.

Picked up a real nice big 28# tom. [Linked Image]
I think John had a good time and started getting used to the Expedition Sport. He put a lot of miles on it this week. [Linked Image]

Beautiful country up there, glad you guys had a good time. Drove by your truck at the pull out last night and was hoping all was well. That overflow is crazy! Wonder what makes it so bad over other years? I've got a creek that I run along for a bit that is higher than I've seen as well.

Man! That is something with the overflow! Hope it doesn't progress any further. Looks like some nice weather to be out on the line.

Lovely shots, JR. And yes that overflow up to your cabin is concerning. Wonder if there isn't some way to influence its advancement ...or hold it back ...

Love the country you cover and all the animals. That overflow at your cabin is getting danger close though.

You got John all spoiled with the Cadillac of sleds now. Not sure he will be able to go back to his older rides.

Good evening Trappers. Spent a great weekend out on the line with my gal. Pulled all the lynx gear and a lot of wolf gear also. Weather was chilly in the morns but warmed up with all this sun. Got some snow and allowed us to journey further up into the high country. [Linked Image]

This Expedition is impressing me more everyday. She carried us to the top of a couple passes riding double. 5920 feet on this pass. [Linked Image]

Saw lots of moose this trip. Ran over to the Wood pulling gear and checking gear. Was pretty excited when I came up to the site where HFT and I hung the snares last week. They'd came back and did what they were suppose too.

When HFT and I were leaving, I thought about pulling those two snares I had John hang on the way in. There was a split in the trail and I had him hang 2 snares on it leaving the main trail up the bluff open. The first wolf took the main trail and the second wolf took the left trail hitting the 1st snare John hung. Panic set in and the whole pack jumped off the trail and ran out the bottom. Live and learn. One is better than none Stacey said.
Got the wolf peeled and stretched today. 90# gray female. She was kicked by a moose and had a heck of a dent on her skull. [Linked Image]

Looks like great weather for a trip. I love those mountain pics that you post. Those wolves live a rough life. I've caught a couple this year with wounds, old and new. Taking down moose for a living is bound to give you some hard knocks! Thanks for posting, I saw your videos yesterday on youtube.

Wow! That is one heck of a dent in her skull! Surprised she kept going and she looks healthy to! Tough critters!
I thought for sure they would come back in from the top side. Happy you got one, wish it would have been more though! Stacy is right, one is better then none! smile Hopefully the jokers will come back from the other side and you nail them smile
Also glad we didn't have those temps when I ran with you, that is a little chilly!!
Thank You for sharing and be safe out there Wildman!

Happy Summer trappers. Been a busy spring and summer so far. Spent a little over a month up in Barrow putting up a building. First time spending any time there. [Linked Image]Met some really great people and learned a lot of their culture. Weather was very cool and 38 degrees was cold up there with the wind and moisture off the ocean. [Linked Image]

Got to spend some time processing a humpback whale with the locals and the excitement in the village when a whale was harvested was something to behold. I have eaten whale many times but was always raw. Boiled with a little salt was a fine dine for sure. The elements, weather, country and culture makes for the toughest people I've personally ever met. Stacey came up and spent our 1 year anniversary with me up there and we had a blast.
When I came back, it was hot and dusty and went to work on my buddies cabin again. [Linked Image]

Put the footing in last year and built the deck. Covering the deck, enclosing, putting screen on and tin on the cabin this year. Put some new windows in and even got a little fishing in. A long ways to go. Everything was hauled in with Super Cubs. Great time with good friends. [Linked Image]

Took a short call in Fairbanks working iron and finished it so play time again. Took a Stacey down to meet Ada Wilson and picked up some cool old pieces for my collection. [Linked Image]
It was great to reminisce with Ada and share some old stories about Dean again. This is a stove I built for Dean some 20 years ago. Still looked great and was still heating the garage. [Linked Image]
Stacey's daughter and grandson came up for a visit and took them down to the cabin in Minto flats for some pike fishing. That is always fun when kids are catching big pike. [Linked Image]

Working on traps now and getting ready for hunting season. Good luck and be safe out there.

Was wondering where you have been. Looks like you have been very busy. Always fun to see what you have been up to. You coming down to the lower 48 for any conventions? Take care and be safe.
