Brian Roberts posted this here some years ago, now tell me how to make your home brew coyote bait. lol
Catfish stink bait Brian Roberts Ok I made and sold Catfish bait for years,I have satisfied customers all over the country. I am not however going to make bait anymore,so its your lucky day this is my recipe that was passed onto me from my grandad,it catches fish and stays on the hook. As follows: 10 lbs cheese(I buy cheese scraps and place them in 5 gallon buckets till it breaks down the hotter the better,I put them on the south side of my garage in the direct sun,it won't catch fish if you don't let it break down, when you weigh this to mix use the liquid and the solids ) 2 lbs beef fat ground fine 1 lb powdered milk 1/2 cup fish oil 1/2 cup salt(non iodized) 5 handfuls of cattail fuzz(more is better than less) mix all of this in a 5 gallon bucket,I use a drill and a plaster paddle Once you get it mixed, dump half in another bucket Than start mixing corn starch in 1 bucket, start with 2 lbs,use caution here don't add to much starch as it will get harder after a couple of days,if it ends up like really soft bread dough thats perfect, let it sit a couple of days and add more starch if needed,as long as it doesn't stick to your fingers its fine. Good luck!......B...... Just looked at my file for that recipe and I forgot to add 1/2 oz Rhodium oil also....B.... this isn't a dip bait but a dough bait,it stays on the hook and catches fish as fast as any other bait out there.....B.....

The “ best “ that I’ve made is the simplest. Mouse , tainted and un tainted “ whole “ . Venison scraps fresh . Beaver fat fresh and slightly tainted . Muskrat, fresh , cut in quarters, cut up or ground. I will use a half cup of canning salt in these if it is very warm out as I don’t want them to taint very much at all . Cubed up deer liver is very good by its self also .
The bait I was talking about mixing with cheese is just lean beaver ground with an 1/8th inch plate . About a day and a half taint at 70* temperatures and then a half cup of canning salt with a cup of honey and a tablespoon of vanilla. This bait did not work as well as the same thing in ground up ground hog using sodium benzoate . But this batch seemed to continue to break down long after the SB was added. In fact it broke down to almost a liquid state and has a sweeter smell . I suspect that I had a bad batch of SB as I could not stop the meat from breaking down. Sodium Benzoate has a shelf life, you can lengthen it's life by sealing in a food grade bucket.

Best catfish bait I’ve ever used was called Quanna after the town it was made in Tx. The old man is dead now so doubt he will mind the share. Very simple. Sein a bunch of creek minnows, all kinds, shad, shiners, small bream, carp whatever is legal. Place some hardware cloth on some sawhorses as a drying rack. Spread minnows on cloth one layer deep. Sun dry till fish are shriveled and rubbery. Grind into a paste. If to soft add cattail fluff, if to dry add a little bottled water . Add 1/2cup blue cheese to 1 quart of fish paste . Grind to blend. Consistency should be like stiff dough. Desolve one third cup sodium bensoate in bottled water blend in paste. Devide into two quart jars cover with cloth and lid to keep flies out but let it outgas for a day or four before you tighten lids.

smash up some hot dogs or cut chunks. Add a lot of salt, I mean to really cover the hot dogs. Add a little fish oil, garlic, and your cheese. If you want to a little anise, not too much just a little. Set in fridge for 3 to 5 days then you can use or freeze or in a cool dark place for 24 to 48 hours use or freeze. May have to use a bait bag which we do anyway to keep the perch from stealing all the bait. Or we do the same with squid. cats love squid. won't need the bag for squid. I make a catfish scent that can be added to the cut baits with the salt that a lot of folks buy but the kid can get the results plus the fun to make his own baits.
