Maybe you could park it on a tarp next time.
Even if it freezes to the tarp it will still move.

I get around the freeze down issue by parking in a manner that leaves the boat teetering with minimal ground contact.

Pretty cool videos JR!

I knew better and just forgot what I already knew..... I parked on a couple logs out of the river but had the bow up and not the transom. We put down a couple 4" logs but the boat kept sliding off of them back into the water. The 502 big block weighs a lot and that's where it freezes hard due to the weight. I knew better... Just a little slow sometimes. She was froze down on both of these pics. [Linked Image]

The second pic is the morning right after we shot the moose. You can actually see the dead moose just above center of the picture. You can also see the trees behind it that I tied the rope-a-long off to.

That is a great place to get a moose, and an equally great place to have an airboat to help!

Just doing what I want now.

I hear you. It’s not easy to do it right every time. Being stuck means it’s temporary. Looks like you had a great hunt.

Good evening Trappers. Just thought I'd check in and give ya a few updates. Made it home from the lower 48. All went well introducing my gal to the family. Weather was a little nasty so didn't do much hunting and no trapping. Did see lots of deer, coyote and surprisingly large number of Sharptailed grouse and Hungarian Partridge. [Linked Image]

My folks live in Michigan, North Dakota on our family farm. [Linked Image]
I finally made it across the river breaking trail on Dec 8th. Crossed the same day as last year. Didn't make it far and had some chainsaw issues. I hate my Still Chainsaw..... [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Headed back out on Sunday with a buddy and we cleared trail to and on up the creek without issue until this fallout happened. Boy Howdy does that happen fast.. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
The water was deep andcold on the upriver side of the sled. Took a couple hours to get out of that hole. Did I mention it was cold. I walked up around the next couple corners with the axe. It was getting dark fast and I hate breaking trail up the canyon in the dark. Got to the cabin at 5 pm dark and 38 below. The bonus was it was only -10 F in the cabin. It actually felt warm when I walked into the cabin wet up to my waist. The next morning, my 19 Expedition Sport 900 wouldn't even turn over. Took til noon to get her running. Back down the canyon we went at -40. We shoveled in a few holes and pulled the groomer back down across the flats. Not much predator sign but hard to see all fogged up at those temps. Made it to the truck at 5pm and way cold. 56 below F at the truck and she wouldn't budge. [Linked Image]
Called a friend and she brought a generator over to plug in the truck. 3 hours later, she was still froze. Rich and I stayed warm by a fire. [Linked Image]
Left the truck and got a ride home. Came back out the next day and put heat to the Ford and got her home in the shop. Drove the truck 50 miles without a heater all the way home. You talk about cold.. Evidently the heater switch is vacuum actuated and doesn't work being that froze. Shouldn't have been out there in those temps. Got lucky. Warming up now and should be going back out this weekend. Be safe out there

WOW! That would pucker a person up real quick! Glad you didnt get hurt! I can see why it took a few hours to get out! I have always had problems with chainsaws when temps are in the negatives and those temps are a little extreme! Hope you get it figured out that tree looks like it would have taken a little to chop with an axe. Hope you get the truck fixed so that dont happen again, glad you had some back up smile
You be safe out there wildman! And thanks for sharing!

Oofda! That sounds like a lot for a little.

My mom was born in Michigan, ND. My grandpa was a school teacher there.

Was just in Michigan nodak a few days ago.
From there and west gets into good coyote country.

If it was easy everybody be doing it. Those fallouts would be plenty to keep me out of there!

Ain't that the truth AK, I'm for sure one of those lesser men. Wife always saying that I just don't remember when I was younger what I did or should say what I shouldn't have did. Fun times.

Happy New Year Trappers. Been a rough start to the season as I am sure with most of us up here. I didn't get to spend Christmas out on the line with Stacey. I headed down the trail a day early to break trail and pull the groomer in anticipation of her arrival. The dang overflow wouldn't let me go back up so I came to town for the holidays.
Definitely the most snow I have ever seen out on my line across the flats and on the creek. Think I have about wore out two shovels already this season. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
The high country is blown off pretty well and it didn't appear to have all the rain that we had in Fairbanks. Thankful for that as our Dall Sheep have had a rough couple years. Breaking trail across the flats with that rain and heavy snow made for a task for sure. Lots and I mean lots of trees down along the way. [Linked Image]

Got up to Pee Post Pass and it was blown clean. [Linked Image]

Got a few sets out on the pass and lots more to come in the high country.

The wolves were testing me already. They made a pee post right out in front of the cabin. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
While we were looking at that, I noticed a shed antler not far away.

Weather has been rough and with the all this snow and rain, the moose are in trouble. They are begging for help from us trappers. Staying on the trails and coming right up to the cabins. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
I say this pair with the binos from the cabin heading into sheep country to get away from the deep snow and the wolves. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
Finally got the wolves to talk again and talk they did. Listen close...

Figured I show you guys my new display I put in the house. This is a 1930's meat display ice box. I picked it up last spring and Stacey said we are putting this big thing in the house. It is beautiful and heavy. We cleaned it up and put a couple new shelves and some LED lights in. It sure works great for displaying some of my local art and skulls. [Linked Image]
[Linked Image]
This is what I got Stacey for Christmas. She was pretty excited. [Linked Image]
Running out of room in the house so had pull down a picture to hang her pike [Linked Image]
Going over the sled, grabbing some gear and heading back out in the morning. Be safe out there this season...

Good to see you finally out in your element! Looks like you caught heck on that trail with all the trees! I take it you got your chainsaw issues resolved? Crazy the differance between snow levels between the low country and high country. Hope the weather holds for you and you get more gear out! Thanks for sharing!
