Well the old thread got lost a while ago and I picked up some stuff in the crafts section of the Walmart to make some. Got some different colored felt instead of sheep wool. a pack with all the different colors was sonly like $4.50 . Got some Bite and pull and #40 lure from Mr. Cletus Richards at the LTA to try on them. Got a few places I can't trap but I can run cameras so imma see how the critters react to these. Anyone using these ? How ya use em ?

Have tried many "Grab & Die" lures, baits, products through the years. For me, some will work well for 1 year or 2, then it falls into the mediocre category for effectiveness. Perhaps I haven't hit the right one yet. Can't say if it is the actual stick that discourages them but I lean toward this 100% farm country producing a lot more food types (mice, voles, grasshoppers/insects, rabbits, ground nesting birds, plums, deer, etc.) that canines can fill their bellies with. If we get a tough winter, about any food/lure will work but in the fall, "Grabs" sometimes have worked well and sometimes they are worthless (except for racoons and opossums). You have different conditions in MS than us so I would be curious to see if you find a product that will hold up year in and out. Your stick looks STD for "Grabs". If legal there, wrap accordingly and use a turkey, chicken or other leg bone for your stick........................ my tip............... the mike

Try deer or hog rib bones stand rib bone up drill a 1/4" hole about 1" deep down in the marrow. Then drill a 3/32" hole cross waze threw bone 1" from bottom put a cheap earth anchor on make a pilot hole for bone drive earth anchor and bone down leave about 2" to 3" of bone above ground put your lure in top hole no felt wrapping needed. The critters can't just take off with your bone.

1 inch schedule 40 grey pipe works well for those. The felt holds scent very well. I like deer leg bones also. No felt needed. Ditch the white for coyotes..

Common sense catches alot of fur..
