For those that put up fur after freezing, what's a good rule of thumb for it to be ready to flesh? I know there are many factors, just curious.

It has to be thawed, no ice crystals in the flesh and hide. Once I thaw them I put them back in the fridge until chilled again so the fat pushes easy and isn't greasy. Just pulled out ten beaver this week and did them this way. Took about 20 hours to thaw a blanket beaver.

Thanks, was wondering, cuz I don't have time to babysit them...my son did this with a possum some time ago, and I threw it in the fridge (but it was overnight), and the fur slipped on us. Just don't want to waste what I got, because I have a few badgers i wanna get tanned.

Thaw them overnight in a cold room.If they are still a bit froze, take them out the cold room open them up(unroll) and leave at room temp for an hour or so,then flesh and board .

On coyotes hides that I want to freeze I roll them up tail first so I can hook the nose so they can thaw out , with your beaver pelts I'd do basically the same but fold them up so the grease doesn't get on the fur .
Hopefully this helps you out .

When I can unrole it with no problems. 24 hrs.?.? ...is when it's ready to flesh? Yep, I usually get them out the night before so when I get home from work I can get at it. Now this is for fur like beaver or coon. These usually take a little longer.
