I have high blood pressure and have since I was a kid. Typically 130s/90s, but have seen as high as 150s/100 once. No reason for it, I'm only 32, eat well, don't smoke, active lifestyle, only occasionally drink. Cutting caffeine and salt seem to have no effect, drinking a glass or 2 of wine will bring it down to 110s/80s, but obviously that's not a permanent solution. Had my kidneys ultrasounded once with nothing found. Doctor put me on losartin, which had no effect, except to cause me to wake up in the middle of the night every night, ravage my wife, and fall back asleep, with little or no memory of it the next day. Bizarre stuff. I knew it happened, but couldn't actually remember doing it. Started about 3 weeks after I started taking the meds, and took 3 weeks to stop after I stopped taking it. I don't do anything for it now, except to keep an eye on it, mostly because I hate the idea of being tied to a pill. It makes me feel like I'm artificially being kept alive.

I figured out if I took 4 hr Sudafed it would bump me up to 138/80. So I would skip it when going to the Dr.'s office. Without it I'm 128/74. I'll take that at age 65.

128/74 BP I just took. When I eat salt like everyone has said it makes a huge difference in my BP. Today I had a can soup and salty crackers. I was very surprised my BP was as good as it was tonight.

That is a my range in BP give or take a few numbers up or down. No BP pills for me.

I usually have about 3 pots of coffee in my before I take my BP. I don't eat anything till noon so no food but lots of joe and not sure it would be any different read on my BP numbers.

I see some say no coffee before check.

D.O.T. medical card says 140/90 is max for a CDL. If its under that I wouldnt worry about it.

My cardiologist gave me a list of salt substitutes to use. None of them are palatable, IMO.

Years ago when I was first diagnosed with elevated BP I used to salt EVERYTHING. So I quit using it completely (except what is in food). In 6 months my BP DID NOT improve at all.
I use it now but sparingly.

Instead of blaming sugar, alcohol, carbs/grains causing HB and obesity. The food industry blamed salt for high blood pressure. Same with cholesterol in eggs are bad for you too. Total BS.

They did a study in 36 country's and looked at heart disease and salt consumption per capita and surprisingly found the country that ate four TABLESPOONS per day per person, had the lowest heart disease of any country.

Animals walk miles for salt. We need salt to survive. They now say we should eat a tablespoon a day, or salt your food to taste. your body wont let you eat too much salt. I stopped eating salt for years and now eating it again and I feel way better.

I had high blood pressure and was given a prescription for BP meds. I didnt take them, and just suffered through the headaches and feeling like crap until I educated myself on the keto diet and after giving up sugar and lowering carbs and stopped alcohol. I have normal blood pressure, lost weigh and feel great.

It can be reversed if you want it . Same with Type two diabetic, change your diet and it goes away. Or live with the meds that's just treating the symptoms. Not the cause.

Just checked mine. 134/78. I have opposite of white coat syndrome. When I go in to the doctors office it's always near perfect. When I'm home is when I have problems. I blame it on my kids driving me nuts.

Mine was high a 5-6 years ago so I had to take a pill every morning to get it down. The pill helped but not as much as losing 40 pounds and walking every day. Eventually I got it to 120/80 but I noticed my morning numbers were always higher (130/90) so I started taking my BP pill before bed instead of in the morning and now for the last 2 years things stay at 120/80 throughout the day.

Just checked mine before we head out for a five mile run this AM ..its 107 over 70, and thats about where mine stays most days typically.
You guys should get out and run more.

I'm similar to White, age, and meds. Agree, 100% this is the internet. Nothing, nobody can give you better info than your Dr. that's the guy to talk to about medical advice. Hope your doing well.

When I am not sick my temperature is 96. If I take enough blood pressure medicine to make my Dr happy I have the energy of a sloth along with other trouble. I take a little extra a few days before my D.O.T. physical. Dr dont like it but I dont believe feeling tired all day is a sign that my health is being corrected by meds.

In my completely unqualified opinion drs dont always get it right. my temperature is evidence that the numbers are not the same normal for everyone
