Aaron.F OP trapper A Joined: Aug 2009 Southern MI	I am interested in possibly going black bear trapping this fall in Maine. I am hoping to hear from some that have first hand knowledge and may be able to provide some recommendations and insight. Thank you 60% of the time it works every time. Jarred1982 trapper Joined: Nov 2013 Tennessee	I have 0 experience with bears... But like everyone above I would try it once! I have a buddy who went to school for a wildlife biologist... Or something to that effect... He said they were trapping bear and used the big swing springs on the chains.

In a box trap just open the door[don't stand in front of door while doing this].In a foot cable pin the bear down with a brushy evergreen tree and take the foot cable off.Easier done with two people. Archeryguy trapper Joined: Nov 2011 Allegany State Park in WNY	I've caught two in foothold traps. One in a MB550 and one in a Duke # 3. Released them both with help from a friend. Wouldn't want to have to do it regularly, that's for sure.
