Watch it newfox,we may be old--but that puts us in a different position---we tend not to take a lot of guff any longer----unless its from our wives.
Those old ladies can be mean and nothing to mess with.

You better stay well behind an old codger--they tend to fart when they cough. That could be deadly.

Do you guys think working 16 hr night shift and only getting an hr of sleep after getting home becuse work called waking you up to ask if you will work a 32 hr shift starting tonight has anything to do with feeling old . Im thinking i am getting to old for this.

Well as the saying goes... "If I would have known I would live to be this old, would have taken better care of myself when I was young." A week from tomorrow I get to add another number to my years.

I decided that I was going to trap again next fall... I made it through the 75th year of trapping this year so I am now shooting for 100th year. I figure if you are going to go... GO BIG!

I am working on getting my traps ready for next season, and will be trying some new techniques for me. I have to keep learning or life won't be worth living.

My medical philosophy is... don't get tested for prostate, don't get tested colon cancer, don't get tested for heart malfunctions. If I did and they would find something, I would then have to worry about taking some darn meds or lay awake thinking if should I have done this or that. If I don't know... let it be a surprise. I can just die in peace.

Hey guys don't worry too much, you've got some youngsters like me who can continue the trapping legacy. You guys had it pretty good though. My biggest worry is all the anti trappers squashing my dreams...

Just an 18 year old trapper trying to learn...

Reading this thread just makes me ah, for a lot of people who remember in the 90s, if you were on a forum things were cool, life was great and amazing. Lots of great knowledge on here, wish some of you old timers would get together and do a trapper talk radio, or something. We need to document all of your guy's adventures and journeys, something I have been appreciating more and more as I get older.

I could listen to you guys talk all the time about how it used to be, what gear was the best, what furs were like, the good, the bad, the ugly, etc. I know there are still some secret tips out there that haven't made it and likely wont ever make it to the interwebs. Anyways, my grandma is 91 years old, we talk almost everyday, I always like to give her something to look forward to.

Matt

Back when I was a bit younger, I recall dad saying that as each year passed, the mud seemed to get a bit deeper and the banks a bit steeper. I didn't experience it then, but I sure do now.

Well similar decrepit here.
Only one mirror in the bathroom. I give it only a quick glance. I have no idea who the old guy is in the mirror.
The aches and pains are miserable from old injuries
I looked forward to retirement to do anything I wanted. Injuries are very limiting.

No shame in getting old, just real unhandy.

About 20 years ago when I was hanging out with the gang at a convention I thought I fit in and was one of them. Now days I realize how much older I am than most of them. When I turned 60 or so I thought I could still do things like I did when I was in my 30's and for the most part I could. Now days I don't even attempt to do lots of things. I can relate to Bogmaster about taking a whiz, an average night has me up at least 3 times, and I must say it takes a lot longer to take a whiz now days.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Nittany,if you want to speed up your trips standing in front of the toilet--ask your doc to prescribe Tamsulosin. While it won't cut down on the trips--it speeds up your urine flow.So instead of 3 minutes standing there--you can cut your standing time to around a minute or so.
Remember--its our golden years. The only gold some of us will see--is if we pee in our pants.Sad to say, that day may be coming to some of us,shortly.

Man how old are you guys, lol. At 61 I’m writing a resume trying to ensure my future as a full time “ but still retired “ trapper. I feel like I can kill coyotes affectively for another 20 years and will be upset with myself if I don’t. Time should only change your pace , I don’t run very far these days but can still walk all day. Now if you old guys will excuse me it’s time for my meds and prune juice.
