I have caught a lot of coons in 220's.. Never caught one by the foot. But if I did it is a caught coon no matter if it is by the foot or by the tail. I have used many different brands and they all work.

First of all " Conibear" is a brand name body grip made by The Woodstream Corp.

Only a Victor body grip is a Conibear and anything else, is not !

Duke body grips are pretty darn good and likely the cheapest to buy : Dead is dead, after all ! wink

BMI are my favorite body grips, but the safeties need to be modified with wire so they stay put like the Bellisle. I am cheap, but I buy made in USA. I do have 6 Bellisle 220’s. They are better, I just hate having expensive traps stolen.

So I don't have any Belisles yet, but I do have Oneida Victor, Duke and RGBs. I have used the OVs the most, and can say they are a great trap for the money, but I guess like everything it just depends on what you are trying to do.

The RGBs to me I really like, but I think we need more test data on the long term. My 440 absolutely smashed a beaver, perfect placement, DOA. The Duke 330 has also done the same for a beaver and an otter. I have used my OV 220 to dispatch almost all of my raccoons, but I think a 160 may be better suited to this task. I had a raccoon put his head into a 120 that I baited with catfood and lure and he was DOA. I have the RGB 220s, and one thing that I did notice is that the springs are smaller and longer, this may be due to the circle vs the square. This is comparing to my OV 220 of course, but I do have several out for bobcat sets and raccoon. One of my 220 OV crushed a gray fox, but like everybody above said I am sure all would do the job fine.

The only conibears that haven't bent yet are the RGBs, but that could be due to a lack of use, but the bend in other brands are neglible except the Dukes. This is easily fixed though and in my opinion is just a factor of how they are built. Anybody bend a Belisle yet?

I bend Belisle 160s all the time. Any time a coon gets in one it needs to be straightened. Same with the rest of the 160 traps.
