With this warm weather the snow is finally starting to settle. Made it out and got my short line pulled. Looking forward to the Fur Rondy Auction this weekend! The high light of the week was getting my ATA hoodie and Fling tickets in the mail smile

I see the feet are on one of the tanned cats.
Do you leave the claws on too or just the feet?
I have done them both ways.

Boco yep I leave them on there. Have had no issues with getting them tanned through Moyles as far as holes or tears. My wife sells them and tourist and out of stater's love the claws on them smile

Went to A Town today for the ATA Auction at Fur Rondy. Ran into a few people I know smile

[Linked Image]

I hung out for about a hour and a half. Pretty cool watching the auction and it is a little exciting to see your fur get up there and people bidding on it smile I had a nice big tom lynx (raw) go for $185, and another (raw) for $165. Then 2 of my yotes (raw) popped up and they went for $105 each smile

Just for clarification, raw means put up. I have alot more fur in there raw and tanned and from watching items were moving pretty good and prices were pretty awesome smile

I appreciate the ATA for doing this event, and for Brian and Melvin who head up the crew to make it happen!

Be safe out there!

Do you put a reserve price on your pelts for that type of a fur auction HFT?
Do you let loose when you get to town?
Back in the day when we got out of the bush to a town things got pretty lively, lol.

Boco, Yep I put a reserve on my stuff. I honestly think I low balled a bunch of my fur but it is a auction and anything can happen. My lynx are not the best, always dark and dirty and very little clarity on the underside. But keeping those feet on there for that auction helps smile The reserve I would have been happy to get anything else is always a bonus smile
Nope I didnt let loose smile To old for that and I gotta drive. smile Now I might have a few with friends when I go to the Fling in a few weeks smile
And what you wrote is why there is a Fur Rondy, at least they are keeping that tradition alive smile

Sounds like a great deal all around HFT.
I hope FHA starts up their convention again next year.

Our Provincial trappers convention is a go this summer. It moves around the province every year so everyone gets a chance to attend,
This summer its in central Ont.on Georgian Bay.

Well my day started off pretty good. Nice hard pack on the snow was able to zip around and dig gear up and get some gear back into action. It was a pretty day smile

[Linked Image]

And then I ran up my creek and that all changed frown No problem going up but on my return the overflow got me good. The top layer was solid but there was three feet of water under it.

[Linked Image]

I messed around with it for almost an hour before I knew I had to make a call cause I wasnt getting it out by myself. Now if I had a come along, a pole, and rope it would have been easy peezy. Todays adventure was to break trail and I left the pull behind sled at home. That was a mistake.

Called a good buddy Matt (AK TRAPR) and asked if he could come rescue me smile He had ran my line with me 2 years ago and had a general idea were I was. He said sure let me get my gear and I will head that away. Called the wife and had her drop off rope a pole and a axe at the truck for Matt to grab on his way out. Plus he is on the Valley search and rescue team so this excited him smile

Long story short he showed up 2 hours later and 5 minutes later we were out and cruising the rest of the line smile

Ran into this tree across the trail and Matt decided to try out my new axe smile

Blessed to have people and friends in my life that when you need help the most they are johnny on the spot smile

Be safe out there!

Slush is nothing to mess around with if you dont have stuff with you to get out.
Good thing you were able to call someone.

Glad you had a rescue option available! Stuff always happens when you don't have the right piece of gear along with you.

It was a pretty morning out there today smile

Glad I went with those 4ft bambo poles as markers for my k9 sets. Yep that is a 4ft pole.

I'd say we got dumped on a little smile

Been waiting for this joker to come back through. Pretty nice otter!

How do you deal with resetting when a trap is that far down? Do you shovel the snow away or raise the set?

Great pictures and catch on the otter!

Thanks guys smile

bfisch this aint a normal year snow fall wise. The last two storms came back to back, I run 12inch cable attached to a fox hollow earth anchor and then 3 foot of chain on my traps. Normally that gets me through the year. I raise the set every time I redo them. Been pulling alot of gear and should have everything dug up tomorrow. Only have a few otter sets, 1 bait station, and 1 wolf set out. Gotta have something out till the end of the month to keep me occupied smile

Thats some serious snow! I will have to get some of those bambook sticks for next season, they would be handy at times. Nice otter!
