It is a very collectable trap.. Every thing looks to me like it is correct. The chain is complete, but the 13 link split has been added to the main chain. The larger link in the chain would have been the end of one of the splits. The trap is missing the drag and chain snap but still a good find.... I believe that model was made from around 1911 to 1925... If the bottom line of the spring stamps are readable you can get an idea of when the trap was made within that time frame...

This lap link was on one of the links but it apparently was previously opened up and fell off while I was messing with it.

There are a few variations but this should be the correct drag and snap for your patent date 4 1/2. The lap link in your photo was probably a drag point of attachment but I don’t think it was original to the trap, should be an S hook.

With that spring stamp, your trap was made about 1913-1914. It should have a square rebar drag and a snap. Here is the same trap you have, complete as it came from the factory.

If you can find one in that condition it could go as high as $5K if you could fine a buyer to pay it.

how about a complete original like that with some wear and tear and some pitting
springs still good and all complete

Without pictures hard to say but I’m guessing $7-800 with pitting and wear if it’s not too bad.

Thanks for the pictures. That version is different than what this post is about but any of the wolf traps complete are good property. Your trap is the model previous and the most common with the square rebar drag. The pat date pan with particular spring stamps and the square stock drag make it especially hard to find compared to yours. I’m hoping others chime in as there are some extremely knowledgeable guys here. I’m not sure on value on yours but I’d say $5-600 maybe

Decent trap 20scout. First model 4 1/2 but I think the snap, drag and S hook are from a newer trap but still nice. Hoping somebody chimes in.

Some one robbed the drag and snap off that kenwood.

what does the old Kenwood model with 3 point drag look like ?

I believe the Kenwood had a four pronged drag. I do not believe that that there was ever a three point factory drag on them.

Some of the very first Kenwood models were supposed to have had a hand forged 3 point drag but I've only seen an old catalog drawing of it. I don't even think Tom Parr has one in the museum either or if he does I somehow missed it. The 4 point flat stock drag came soon afterwards.
