I can't remember it if was on a podcast or an article I I saw this but Jim Comstock talked about how you could take two rubber hooked tie down straps and use them to turn you cage into a backpack basically and make it easier to pack them in to place you can access easily with vehicles . Finally got around to getting some today and trying it out and it works great ! My horse pannel cages average around 20-30lbs a pop and are a pain to hand tote in but one my back , easy peasy. Though I've only walked in two cages with this deal so far both only about 100yd. But still ,really nice little truck !

100 yards is far enough to appreciate an improved way to carry beaver sized cage traps.

Good tip.

If anyone is going to have a cage trap tip, Jim is about as likely as they get

Shoot, pretty soon the homeless will all want Comstock beaver traps instead of supermarket shopping carts!

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Them new ones don’t stretch much like the old ones but that might be a good thing for that use.

I don't own any cages but am looking to purchase some. I thank you for this post, really valuable information that is easily remembered.

Some of these cage traps are big and heavy so toting them for more than short distances can be tasking. Only use them in relocation work now when requested in our state.. Snares are much easier to pack.

When I worked steady beaver work in Arkansas we built a wheeled cart for hauling equipment, and could be hauled behind a 4 wheeler, didn't use cages back then. Just hauled in lots of conibears, snares/supports, tie wire and stabilizers. Used it to haul out beaver and otter on the cart too.

I would imagine one of those carts used to haul deer kills out of the woods would work well also for those big cages.

I pack mine into cat country and get the ok from the landowners to stash them over the summer often, I find a brush pile or horizontal tree to set them on to protect the wire from sitting in moisture during the wet times. Pack that stuff in during good weather not during the slippery or muddy times is easier.
