Cathryn, I have thought over the possibility of selling Ramps(we always called them Leeks) here, but am not sure how I would approach it...... I have access to thousands of them on a family member's land, so a ready supply is guaranteed. I guess my questions to you are how much do you ask for them? Do you sell per dozen, per clump? Cleaned or not cleaned? It has become VERY cool here the last 4-5 years to forage, and Ramps are very popular, so much so, that there is now a real push to only pick a leaf off each plant, and if you dig up the bulbs you are taken to task by any number of keyboard warriors that will tell you your a real ! that cares nothing about the environment, sustainability, or Mom's apple pies! I have been doing this since I was a child, as did my folks and their folks before them. I am not about to wipe out my own Ramp patch for profit, and considering I am the only one in the entire family that will eat the darn things, I'm sure my spot is safe from the Wandering Hoards. We are not allowed to pick them on public lands in Michigan, even just for our own use. Most folks ignore that rule totally though. Also, do you have a good recipe for Ramps served over kitten?
All kidding aside, if you want to answer but would rather answer via PM, I understand. I understand if you'd rather not answer as well.

No offence but those thangs will clear a room. I have no clue who was the first or why anyone would eat one. First person must have been on a dare. Aww now, they aint all that bad. I like em', but they're sort of like a seasonal novelty, and a bit over priced. There are local festivals and everything ! Like morels, some go nuts over them. We get a bushel or more most years, give em to friends.

I had my very first ones ever last spring as Cathryn sent me some. I thought they were great! If you don't like ramps then you don't like any of the alliums I suppose.
What's more, I admire anybody that makes a go of living off the land. Cathryn and Jerry epitomize the spirit of making your living from natures bounty.
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Ramps are a.cross between garlic and onions.
They look similiat to a wild onion.
We sell them 2 ways.
3.00 a dozen..which is what we did yesterday..or by the pound.
We also sell them by the pound wholesale to a guy in WV and one n Texas.
We are delivering some today to Romney wv. The guy is paying our gas too.
Last year in 3 or 4 weeks we made over 8500.00
We are hoping to make 15 this year.
We don't eat them.
Its crazy how many people do

Its crazy how many people do Since the season is so short,,you should consider pickling a bunch of them to sell.Pickled leeks are great.Unless your already too busy keeping up with your demand as it is.Just a thought.
