About three years ago I quit cable TV. It took me about two weeks to get used to not having it.

So yesterday Alaska Airlines decided to cancel a flight of mine. But they were nice enough to put me up in a decent place overnight in King Salmon Alaska.

I was kind of looking forward to checking out the outdoor channels on the room's TV. After getting caught up on the news I flipped over to an outdoor station. I've now caught short episodes of several shows,
Nothing but bass, whitetail, hogs, and Walleye. Every single show is essentially just a 30 minute info-mmercial.
Does anybody actually watch this boring stuff?

If there was an outdoor channel that had stuff like sturgeon, creek fishing, mule deer, brown bear, hound hunting, etc, I might be tempted to get cable again.

How did the hunting go? Been many moons since I've been through King Salmon.

One series of commercials with bits of hunting shows sprinkled into it.

I pretty much watch the weather, documentaries and movies at the house.

TV does in fact suck.

I lived for years without a TV, then I found a woman. She came with a free TV. When we split I made her take her TV.
I went a few years without a TV again.
Then I found another woman, and she came with a TV also. But she's pretty good, so I can overlook her TV, but I don't watch it.
I've been at a motel and turned on the TV out of shear boredom, but it always ends the same. Me scrolling through a bunch of channels, then me rolling my eyes and shutting it off.
I can't stand watching movies anymore either.

I only get free TV with an antenna, about 50 channels. Watch mostly PBS documentaries. When I did have pay TV I quit watching the outdoor channels once they all started shaking uncontrollably and crying and carrying on every time they shot or caught something. Does anyone actually act like that? If you do somethings wrong and you need medical help.

Those outdoor channels never got my attention. They must be geared towards city slickers or the likes.

I had two brown bear hunters this spring, both at the same time. They both connected on nice bears. It was a pretty slow slow season for everybody I think, at least for the first 10 days of the season. We were out of the field on day 8, it may have picked up for guys hunting later as the weather warm up a bit.
Extra cold spring, bears weren't moving much.
I'd post pictures if I could get that function to work on my phone.

I can't stand watching movies anymore either.

My little woman started crying because I couldn't remember some movies she asked me to watch with her. Movies are simply people pretending to be someone they're not. I just can't get into them either.

That's good, Mark. I wondered where you've been...then it dawned on me. Love to see the pics when you can.

Outdoor magazines are the same way. In both, there is an overabundance of crap on big bucks, big bass and big tom turkeys. The writers and shows regurgitate the same info ad nauseum. Looking at big bucks, bass and tom turkeys grows old quick too. They shows and articles need more variety.

I pretty much only watch sporting events such as football and baseball.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I don't watch much TV. Days are busy, watch some news, eat and off to bed. If the wife didn't watch it so much I wouldn't have a TV.

I watch the news in the morning while having my before work coffee and then its off until late afternoon. In the evenings, I watch a dirt track race if ones on Flo, a pay streaming sports site or if no race, I watch the Smithsonian channel or similar history type channel.

I can't stand the outdoor and hunting shows, what little they show after the commercials where they mention the sponser's product 3 times in every sentence, they're always whispering, even after some bow hunter arrows a deer, the deer is dead, why are we whispering?
Can hardly hear what they're saying. Can't, and won't watch.

Posco,
I finally got the pictures transferred from my phone to laptop so I can upload.
The second bear pictured is actually the largest of the two, it died in about a foot of water, got wet, and lost it's nice fluffy appearance while were positioning it for pictures. it is actually the same color as the first bear, just looks darker because it is wet.
If you look closely to the far left, right on the edge of the picture, you can see our camp; I love it when bears wander to within 110 yards of camp; 28 yard shot.
