I have this one double long spring that when I rotate the springs toward the dog they will not stay put and therefore the loose jaw springs back up.

I know it’s got to be a simple fix. Anyone?

Scrape the wax off the spring/jaw contact point and let it rust a bit. If standing in a creek rub some dirtier sand at the contact point.

Are the springs upside down? Should be an indent on the spring eye that allows the jaw to lay flat.

Use a lighter to melt the wax off around the contact areas but don't use a torch as you just want to melt the wax, not remove the temper of the springs.

Dig your trap bed, set the trap, position jaws then pack dirt around the trap it will stay in place then.

Put a screwdriver through the top spring eye of the offending spring and twist it so the dog side is a little lower than the loose jaw side. 5 second fix.

After treating my water traps during the offseason I reset them all and always have a little container of sand I can put a pinch of sand on the flat on the eye of the spring where it rubs against the Jaws this usually does the trick
