What trap do you recommend to trap/kill ground squirrels? They are burrowing under my driveway!

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

We had good luck with old, light tension pan traps like #1 jumps or longs. Dig the hole out a little at opening to fit a set trap in and cover the opening a little. We laid a board across it to keep it out of sight from curious neighbor kids. Caught all of the ground squirrels that burrowed under our driveway this way. Worked slick.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

If it is a 13 striped ground squirrel, a common V rat size trap will work baited with peanut butter. Fasten it with 16-17 ga. wire to a stake or brick. ............................. the mike

A 110/120 will work fine. . . as long as your wife doesn't have a pet cat. They also make a smaller bodygrip that I assume would actually work better, but I've never actually had ahold of the little 55 bodygrips.

here's what some government advice is:

Removal
If other control methods have failed, thirteen-lined ground squirrels can be trapped and removed. A permit is not needed. Live traps baited with seed can be used to capture the animals. If you plan to release the squirrel, it is recommended that you release the squirrel five to 10 miles away. You will need written permission of the landowner before you release the squirrel. Rat-sized snap traps are efficient if ground squirrels are to be lethally removed. Nuisance wildlife control operators will trap and remove thirteen-lined ground squirrels for a fee. Franklin’s ground squirrels may not be removed without a special permit.

A Victor #0 LS upside down over the hole will dispatch the quickly and you don't have to worry about catching any cats. A weasel box with a rat trap baited with peanut butter and sunflower seeds works good for me also unless you have raccoons around.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

The simple squirrel trap sold by WCS is a great trap for rats / chimpunks and voles if needed.

I' ve never caught any voles, but I did catch, baby groundhogs, baby raccoon, baby skunks, 13-lined ground squirrels, eastern chipmunks, red squirrels and grey squirrels.

They fit on deck rails , on top (sometimes inside) gutters and can be fastened to the truck of a tree and tree limbs.
