My work car is a lease and they pay maintenance if it goes through their dealership. I still get an itemized receipt when it’s done. $94.50 for an oil change on a 4 cylinder SUV! They wanted another 75 bucks for change the air filter! Absolute insanity.

Not hard to believe,

My cost at the shop for good oil the newer cars require runs anywhere from 5.99 and up a quart. So at a minimum the shop has 30 bucks in oil, another 4 in the filter and an hours labor to their mechanic plus his health insurance, retirement 401 and on and on to things like insurance on your vehicle in case something happens to it.

It ain't all peaches and cream to be in business!

Hippie, id suggest getting a better distributor to purchase from. i can purchase mobile 1 full synthetic (5qt) for $23 at meijer or wally world. You should be able to purchase for less than that. I'd also get a new mechanic if it takes them an hour to change oil/filter. Not trying to bust your chops, you gotta make some money....but your figures seem off to me.

The dealership in town is charging 50.00 for a oil change.

I do mine own.

I've only paid for one oil change in my, and it was because they did a oil flush.
Buying mobile one and Ac-Delco filters I'm close to 30 dollar's a change.

Let me sugar coat this

6.7L diesel truck takes 3 gallons and 1 quart and the T7 (maybe its T6) synthetic is $30 a gallon.
Throw in $25 for an oil filter and it starts adding up real quick.

I go to Valvoline and google around and twice now have found 50% off coupons.

I think when I did the Explorer it cost like $25 after that coupon.

I hear what your saying but it doesn't take an hour to change oil and filter. Only minutes. An hour is the minimum they charge you in the books

I do my own. 12 quarts of rotella and fleetguard filter is usually about $60

Gotta live up to the nickname...
