That's to the good stuff. The processed stuff has the lanolin removed which kills its attractiveness.

Was promised a bag of alpaca wool by a local farmer... Hasn't materialized and I'm not happy

Wool keeps the sent going unlike the ground where it goes in.

I went away from using wool . Mice were always pulling it out of the hole .

Nothing goes in a hole that can be gotten out easily for bedding material by rodents, birds pecking at it, or by hooking it with a toe nail. Stopped that routine many years ago. It definitely has some value but it can be a headache also.

Knowing how effective wool can be stinking like sheep I've often wondered if goat stink would be a draw. Does angora have the goat stink on it like raw wool has the sheep lanolin?

I've had better luck with q tips or cotton balls in my area, doesn't mean it won't work here though.

Pack rats like just about anything that is not natural to their environment. They like to put these things into their huts for building material or just to show off to the the rest of them just how special they are.

In some areas of the West where I trapped they gave me fits taking my fabricated pan covers off my cat traps from my trail sets. Sometimes nightly. Some weren't so lucky tho.

^^^^^^^ this similar to my experience with sheeps wool. I had the idea = to wrap it around the end of bamboo lure sticks. Hold lure better = worked great in heavy rain for this purpose. Caught 11 or 12 coyotes on 2 week job. Moved to next job. Had bout 50 of these pre made. Started setting them out with my flat sets. THEN. Desaster. Yep. Everyone of them got toted off. Or tore up. Or pulled apart. Even the birds. Got hold of them. So what did i learn???? Even though i only move 40 miles done the road. Wool. May not work here like somewhere esle
