How many of you “Knee Flesh Beaver” with a beaver knife?

I do rough skinned beaver like that.
Not too often I get a rough skinned beaver to do.I clean skin.

An old trapper told me how in the 80’s. I first tried it on a small beaver fearing a bunch of holes but none. Before I’d get in a hurry clean skinning & cut a hole in the pelt. Rough skinning and knee fleshing cut my processing time in half. I got a quarterly magazine from Hudson Bay that one article told to leave the belly fat when put on the board 24 hrs making it easier to scrape that helped.

Same as fleshing rough skinned beaver on a beam,when fleshing over your knee,if you leave a good amount of flesh on the pelt it makes the job easier.
I find clean skinning more efficient,since you dont have to skin them twice.
I used to spring beaver trap and hunt spring bear at the same time in the same area,so I would rough skin the beaver in the bush and leave the carcasses to attract bear to the area.

I bought a "beef skinner " from victoronix this offseason, I'm gonna try it cuz on my beam it seemed like a shoot show with a fleshing knife. I'll try just about anything once l, if I agree with the concept.

Do you guys put a hard piece of leather or something over your knee when doing this?

I had a vinyl apron and let me be clear, when fleshing the blade action is behind the knee, more in your lap. Unlike a hard surface of a fleshing pole, your leg acts as a cushion letting you slice without harm to the pelt. As I said before, an old man told me about this 35 years ago. Now I’m the old man.

I clean skin most of the beaver I get. I do like fleshing the smaller beaver on my knee. Blankets hurt my hands by the time I finish the big ones. I will now try leaving the belly fat for after boarding.
