When I set up baited trail cameras (mainly in winter) I get a wide variety of wildlife species. I think I'm up to 18 different species identified on camera while using the baits. I've been using roadkilled deer (both mulies and white-tails) or beaver carcasses for bait. Besides the ever-present magpies, golden eagles are probably the most common scavenger. Often times, there are multiple eagles on the baits, which leads to some interesting interactions.

Baited trail cams , like a box of chocolate...you never know what you're gonna get grin

Goldens , in the sun, have a lovely detailed colour pattern on their feathers.

There are some around here too, though the Baldies are more numerous, because of the big river .

Thanks for the share, Jack.

Mark-

Cool photo, man! Might have been impossible to discern, but could you tell if the white eagle was a bald, a Steller's, or a white-tail sea eagle?

The head profile sure looks different from a Bald
interesting the brown tail feathers or is that some carrion it is standing on.

is brown a throwback from black in isaballine colour in birds ?

Jack, we saw it a couple times flying with an adult bald eagle. The two would follow each other when you saw them together. I knew where there were about a half dozen eagle nests. I never saw the white one around a nest. It was neat to see. I took that picture through a set of binoculars for a telephoto lenses. It was about 150 yards from me. I t had been sitting on drift wood along thee beach and flew up there and landed. I saw a odd eagle when I was on Rootok. I walked out of the weather port and it sailed past at about 75 yards. It went around the corner of a cliff about 100 yards away and I never saw it again.
North50 It had a little brown on it and was more of a cream color than a bright white. We found a wing feather and turned it into the refuge.
