Saw it when it first came out. Of course we all loved it. But it is pretty preposterous when you give it just a little bit of thought. The reason I give the movie a pass regarding the point which you bring up about being "pretty preposterous", is that if they had filled in all of the blanks as to how the enemy was able to succeed in taking out our defenses, the movie would have been 5 hours long. I don't have that kind of time to watch a movie that long, and I enjoy using my own imagination to fill in those blanks. It would be entertaining to me to hear what folks in here would use to fill in the blanks. You could start that ball rolling if you could expound more of what you consider "preposterous."

Also I was 4 when it came out so when I watched It over and over as a 10- 14 year old I still liked Rambo and such. But this was better due to freedom and they were close to my age. I love it now because it will only be a shadow of what's to come as things keep progressing in the direction we are going. When it came out I was lucky to own a VCR we didn't have cable. Today I just watched it again for free on the phone in my pocket during down time at work. Talk a but how things change but the American spirit still resides in many of us. This move shows that spirit and is still a special movie to me.

Ok, like the Magnificent Seven. The remake of that isn’t even half as good , to me, without Yul Brynner. I prefer the original Magnificent Seven AKA Seven Samurai. Let us know what you think of the original Red Dawn Sharon. I haven't seen it for 25 plus years.

My fill in the blank scenario. Prior to invasion an American election is stolen. The false president is merely a paid for pawn of the invading country. During his reign he divides the nation so severely through using agents of the U.S. government to attack his political enemies that the nation is on the brink of civil war. The invading country uses this division and enemy agents, many from an open border policy, to evade our defenses and begin the military invasion.
