About a month ago i started having severe joint pain in my hips. I was cooking for a fish fry and about 4 hours later i was in severe pain. Felt like a nail being driven into the joint on both sides. Got better over a couple days . Didn't sleep well about a week after that and this time hips, shoulders and elbows. Always both sides , one side might hurt more then the other but constant pain. Its worse in the morning and slowly ease during the day.

Any body have any ideas?

This sucks

I am kinda in the same boat but only one hip joint hurts and that is usually at the end of the day after walking and working a lot. May be totally different in your case, but I am going to try better shoes and some glucosamine and chondroitin capsules to help lubricate the joint in question. Will go from there if pain persists.

Vegetable and seed oils cause joint inflammation. Perhaps its the seed oil in your fish fry.

I believe inflammation from diet is the main culprit

My knees and shoulders were bad for awhile

I've cut way back on bread , soda , potatoes ......not enough will power to cut out all garbage though.....

I've Been drinking joint juice from Costco and a taking a more expensive fish oil pill , a consentrated form of what ever it is in fish oil that is good for you

Seeds/grains are coated with natural insecticides, same with potatoe skins they dont want to be eaten. The natural poisons (lectins) eaten by humans causes joint pain, stomach problems among other side effects even mental problems.

A high carb diet usually has alot of grains and seed oils. So if you cut back on the carbs probably will help alot.

I agree on getting checked out. Could be more than you think. I have a shoulder that was knocked out of joint while wrestling in high school , 54 + years ago.It hurt and would pop out every now and then. Same with a trick knee. Got really bad, couldn't lift my arm. Friend told me about JOINT SOOTHER , from Puritan's Pride , the pills are horse pills, hard to get down. Did the best I could for about two weeks , and just got tired of swallowing those pills. LOL But didn't realize my shoulder was better. Shoulder was fine and my knee , might be , but don't trap much any more , so not putting strain on it. About 4-5 years later my shoulder started hurting again , took some more , and it worked. An Amish friend had a bad shoulder , in a sling , gave him some of my pills , and a couple weeks later , he was fine also.
I just pass on what wored for me, and a few others . I can't say if it will work for you , but it doesn't hurt to try it.

AGAIN get the pain checked out, it could be more than you think.

What strength training exercises do you do for hips?

Hips become a very weak point as we age and we need to do stuff to keep them strong....ymmv.

Could be your piriformis muscle pinching your nerve...the nerve has a tight passage thru there and if you have inflammation of the piriformis it is going to hurt. The pain may also go down the back of your leg to or past the knee..they call that sciatica.

Got an inversion table several years ago and it’s helped immensely. Was at walmart a couple years ago and saw a device in the “as seen on tv” section that was a handle that assisted with decompression. You dont need the handle. Lay on your back, in a recliner or in the floor, knees up, push away from you. You will feel the stretch, can sometimes feel a pop. It’s worth a shot.

I've been in absolute agony for 6 months from arthritis in my hip. A buddy at my VFW Post said try a 5% Lidocane patch, talked to my Doc, and she gave a 'script for some, and 3-4 days later I have relief, I can walk again.

I've started back with a routine but to be honest some days all i can do is just strech. Been walking and lifting light weights plus lots of streches.
