This is the first I've heard of an actual company that specializes in that service

https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100057041606495&_rdr

It's called MB Tracking Services.

Down here we have 2 prominent ones. One is called "Nose to the ground" i can't remember the other. They have folks all over the state. You call them they send someone out free of charge. They have some awesome tracking dogs. We always"tip" then to cover their gas and some extra.

I have a cousin that has a dog he uses to track for people. Found 36 out of 40 last year he said. I have not seen him work yet have not needled it and he is a few hours away from me.

My son is about to get into that. Got a guy in middle GA that guarantees 100% on gut shot deer. His dogs are truly that good. Most every gut shot deer dies. The issue is the shooter generally starts trying to track it and can push that deer hundreds of yards, even up to a mile. If a gut shot or suspected gut shot, back out and give it 6-8hrs. This guy uses Blue Lacey’s and “if” it ain’t dead, they’ll bay it up for a second shot.

I don't think it is legal o use a dog to track wounded deer in ND. The would be considered hunting deer with a dog.

In Pa. it is also illegal to track a wounded deer with a dog. I had hit a deer years ago not far from home and couldn't find it. I knew my Aussie could find it as she had crazy skills in a lot of areas. I called the local warden and he said that it is against the law to use a dog to recover a wounded deer.

Used the service once . Was very impressed. There's quite a few in Kansas. There a National association , believe it's named National Blood Tracking Association that can help link you to one in your area. In KS they are required to be on leash while tracking a wounded deer.

I believe in PA you can used leashed dogs. Know guys that service PA, Ohio and WVa. Only a few states outlaw dog tracking.

Same with many states.
I like the idea , a gut shot deer is almost impossible to track , same with bear , and other animals.
Seldom a blood trail.
Hound hunting deer is getting to the point where it won't exist in a few years.
Too many property lines any more.

So these States would rather you let a deer go to waste instead of using a dog to find it?

In a way yes, one less deer either way, and leaves the hunter to shoot another.
Remember insurance companies back the game laws when it comes to deer.

Some you might want to check games laws. Many states have legalized recovery dogs in the last few years. Here's a good resource to find whats legal in your state

Can we blood trail one onto the neighbors property without written permission here in Georgia?

I don’t believe we can. You could call and ask permission though. We have an agreement with surrounding neighbors, just call first so we’ll know and we’ll do the same.

Lots of people with tracking dogs in Texas

The good ones get paid well to show up

There are a few counties in East Texas where it is illegal to trail them with dogs due to the running them with dogs history

Helped train a litter of Catahoulas in south TX to track wounded deer. Was a lot of fun and rewarding. Most of them turned out great! What breeds of dogs are most of these services using? Not clear on the law in MD.

Black Mouth Cur is probably the most popular down here but I've seen everything from dachshunds to labs.
