How much land does it take for a family to be self sufficient as far as feeding itself? You are asking about enough to feed an immediate family not make a living correct? Not much, 5 10 acres? Maybe 20?

[video:youtube] https://www.youtube.com/shorts/5wQir8gAFQo[/video] Admittedly I did not watch the video but I’m not completely alarmed by taking ag land out of production in some areas. Much current ag land could either use a rest for a few years or in many cases be better suited as buffer and cover land. Our current “modern” ah practices have become very efficient and productive but at what cost? More isn’t necessarily always better. Happy trapping! ScottW

ScottW Will you be alarmed when there is no food on the shelves. Like what has been happening during covid. We have not felt the full extent of the covid panic that shut down many key industries in the US including food production, supply chains, fertilizer fuel prices etc etc... Some countries will be starving for sure and could even be ours with the plan the lizards have for us to reduce the worlds popuation by 90% Bil Gates says there are too many people on the planet and starts buying up all available farmland and takes it out of service. Thats good for wildlife, not so good for us.

Enough to grow a milk cow, flock of chickens, pen for pigs, and a big garden. With proceeds from your mill you could buy flour, coffee, sugar, and such. 5 to 10 would seem about right?

I think the milk cow will increase it quite a bit. Pasture for it and calf plus whether you decide to make your own hay for the winter or buy it/ barter for it.

Is there some law that says you gotta have a cow? lol Yes lol. It's up to your own families needs. If you don't need milk don't worry about it. Maybe you will have a neighbor that you can barter/trade with. Another option is goats milk, they don't need as much pasture or hay as a cow.
