We find them very destructive over here. We use large traps called ladder traps, which can catch many birds, at a time. We also use smaller traps, called larson traps. These traps have a central compartment, where a call bird is kept, and then two, four, or five, outer compartments, for catching the magpies/crows. They come in many different shapes and sizes. The call bird is kept alive, and fed and watered. It is used to attract more birds into the trap.

Here is one of the smaller type traps, with a magpie call bird in the middle, and two hooded crows have been caught.
