I live in OH, and a badger(and bobcat) are the only animals on my bucket list to trap or shoot, so i'm looking for someone out West to help make this happen. Not looking for a handout, I can pay whatever, but would like to help on a line this winter, and keep(buy) a hide once an animal is caught.
I'm an honest patriot looking for an adventure, nothing more, nothing less. Just looking for a badger to check off the list.
I can provide traps, baits, whatever, just let me know whats needed.
Thanks,
Orion
If it'd been earlier you could have probably went out west with Jerry. If you don't find someone this year get ahold of us and maybe yall can make plans for next season

Badgers get prime really late in winter and make sure the state you're looking to go to allows trapping for species your state does not have. Wyoming only allows out of state trappers to trap what NR can trap in their home state. We have plenty here in Wyoming and they aren't all caught in fields. beartooth that is a great looking badger, what time of the year were they caught? Ours wasn't so fluffy. Caught our biggest bobcat in the same set 2 days later, 39 lb cat.

You are wrong. If he doesnt have badgers in ohio..which he doesn't..he can still trap badgers in wyoming. Reciprocity doesn't apply if the NRs state doesn't have the animal and never did. I know this for a fact..Jerry had a meeting with the Wyoming fish and game about the very issue 3 years ago. Then the Wyoming fish and game.had a meeting among themselves and..2 hours later..and after they spoke to John Lund that issue was cleared up. The meeting was at the Cheyenne office. Jerry is out there in wyoming.. right now...trapping badger and marten and we have neither here in WV and he is legal.doing so. And he's been doing it every year for 33 years

I didnt know they had badgers in ohio but He can still go to Wyoming because he can't trap badgers either, in ohio as a resident..
The Wyoming fish and wildlife wants a copy of the non resident trapping regs when they apply for the licenses and they check them to make sure the Wyoming trapper isn't being screwed.
He could also trap a bobcat because while season is closed In Ohio ..it is closed to both residents and non residents.
If residents of Ohio were allowed to trap badger or cats and nonresidents weren't allowed to trap them then he couldn't trap either in wyoming.

Always wondered about trapping and putting up one of those buggers. Did some work with tanned badgers-nice prime fluffy ones make real good hats-tough leather and durable fur.

Those are the regs..no argument from me.
Jerry had to fill out the non res trapping license application just like everyone else. There are only 1 or 2 people that can approve non resident license applications and they are in th Cheyenne office.
Call the Cheyenne office and ask for the non resident fur bearer licensing agent.
Whit wilson approved jerrys license after reviewing our wv site regulations with no restrictions. This season.and we do have badgers or marten They will explain the Wyoming fish and game interpretation of the law.
They looked at the intention of the law when making the interpretation decisions.

Orion be careful telling people you are willing to pay someone to take you to catch a badger or cat. You may end up being taken advantage of.
Jerry said if you havent got trapping forecast lined up by dec. Send me a message. He thinks he can get you a cat pretty easy in wv and he wont charge you..all itll cost you is your license fee.

Boco, badgers are gristle backs maybe like a wolverine. The feet are a real challenge. I'd rather finish otter or beaver any day.

Boco, badgers are gristle backs maybe like a wolverine. The feet are a real challenge. I'd rather finish otter or beaver any day. What I saw of wolverine, they are a smooth back. I thought they would be worse to put up. Badger have the worse gristle back from what I have seen. It's like running a push knife over a wash board. The leather is tough, so you can get on them.

In SD no season and you can snare the holes in the road ditches, it’s common to see fresh digging when driving around in the country.
