Sorry but pg. 58 shows how to use bodygrippers up to 7 1/2 “ on land. Restrictive but can be done. I believe this would include a 220. I’m just not sure if a bobcats shoulders would be too wide for it to get 18inches back, I know they don’t like to be too confined and the normal bobcat boxes I see the 220 is right in front of the box opening. Just not sure how well they would commit to the set

I don't think a bobcat would be able to reach that far back with its head and get caught. It would have to be quite committed and sort of crawl up into the box I'd imagine. Go to google and type up "bobcats, buddies, and boxes" and look at that article or copy and paste the link below. I have had very good luck with that box design and maybe you could extend the top lip out to say 12-14" and have the trap sitting back 4-6". Not really sure if that would count as an 18" recession or not, that'd be up to a conservation officer. kind of hard to explain through typing https://www.trapperspost.com › archive1

True, but at least we still have footholds and trapping. Somehow they haven’t taken it away from us….yet Seriously then they don’t put any warning signs or notices on state land that traps are out and that it’s illegal to touch someone’s trap. They set us up and put us in situations where conflict is amplified against us. Especially on wildlife management areas, that are meant mainly for hunting and trapping, yet let the hikers and people who let their dogs wonder without a leash on these areas and you end up with people freaking out thinking we’re in the wrong for using the area that way. We’re in a downhill fight.

Yeah I trap in a WMA in Sullivan County. A few years ago that happened to me, a leashless dog got caught and the guy freed his dog and stole my trap. I ran into him as he was leaving the WMA and I was driving in to check traps. He asked if I was trapping and was all irate, told me he threw the train the woods. I called the game warden and he taught the guy the error in his way. The guy actually believed it was a wildlife preserve. No excuse for anyone taking a lawfully set trap, but everyone needs to use their heads. Trappers included. A lot of the WMAs are also pheasant release sites and the only upland bird cover open to the public. That means bird dogs and lot of them. Common sense on the trappers part can avoid a lot of issues.

Unless they just happen to step on a set, a well trained bird dog should only be hunting one thing. There are plantations down here that run footholds year round, including during quail season. Their comment was, “If one of our trained dogs gets in a trap, then we don’t want him.”

I have been impressed by 160's for Raccoons. Very impressed. No more suitcase. Easier to get the trap off.
Just a weekend trapper...
