Deer tags went from $24 up to $39. For residents. The bundle went from 60 something to 90 for 3 tags.

Seemed like a big jump to me and I did not hear what the additional funds will be for.

Youth licenses from 7 to 12 also.

My wife normally buys them all on line and does not pay at to prices or increases so I didn't notice when she got there youth licenses and my small game and fishing combo. But the boys didn't want to hint this morning so I thought I may go alone but when I went to buy tags and saw the increases stayed home.

It's not crazy high yet but deer tags used to be 12 I think.
To bad so many people spend more to kill a deer or two Than they could buy half a cow for. I spend mor than I should becus its something I do with the kids but I'm not buying deer tags for me. Unfortunately I will be one of the few and it won't hurt their income and they will get the increases in revenue. But they won't get it from me. I will buy a Cow and spend my time more productive catching up on projects instead of in a tree.

I can't think of much that hasn't increased in price lately.

A turkey tag here is $30. Butterballs taste better, come ready to cook for 1.50 a pound.

Yep. I couldn’t believe it when I went and bought mine. I took in $100 to get my deer license bundle and a trapping license. It wasn’t enough. Back around 1980 my mom tried to get me to buy a lifetime license, sure wish I had listened.

Looks like he needs another year;-)

I just checked my 1980 archery license that I keep in my wallet since it was my first deer kill.
Price was $10.00.

Purchased my lifetime license in 1990 for $550 so it’s been paid off for many years.

One way to look at it PF is that in 1980 $10 was probably more than an hour’s pay for a lot of people so with today’s wages $39 is probably real close to being on par.

You must have a better job than most of us.

Our license is $25 and includes small game, deer, spring turkey and fishing. Includes 8 deer.

$20 more for the sportsman license which adds on archery, blackpowder, and fall turkey. (No extra deer, still just the 8).

If you don't want to hunt deer, or only hunt them on your own land as I do, they also offer a small game/fishing license that is $10.

I didn't look but I think $390 or so. Way to much to kill a deer. Thats why I have never killed a deer in KY and only take the kids over there. The nonresident Tags are to high for me but it's cheaper for my kids to hunt in KY or the same price as in our home state. My youngest is under 12 so does not need a license in KY and my 12 year Olds is only $12 so the same price as hunting in his home state.

I have killed enough deer I don't care to ever kill another one as long as the boys are shooting enough to fill the freezer and it way better watching them shoot them. It's been slow this year only one so far. Should not have had them pass on the doe's on the farm opening day.

As a property owner, can you shoot deer for free on your farm in Indiana?

Yes, but I prefer to save the deer on the farm for the boys and hunt elsewhere if I'm going to make any kills. I think it's been around 3 years since I'd have killed any deer.
I don't feel the need to pull the trigger any more and it's only $100 to buy tags if I do. But I will only hunt probably one to 3 time without the boys and it's not worth I
That price to me for that. Now I will easily spend nearly $1000 on gas and food taking the boys.

It's just the increase really ticks me off for some reason. Maybe because hunting should be free.

The turkey tag price analysis above is a good one. Not only can you get two better tasting turkey from the store for the cost of a tag. You don't get ate up with ticks, spent all the cash that goes with going hunting .

Heck before long it will be cheaper to hunt without a license and pay the ticket if you figured I have only had my license checked once or twice in my life. No I would do it but I imagine a guy would come out ahead financially but not morality.

Half a cow or a whole cow would be cheaper than what I spend on hunting each year for sure. I guess the state just wanted a bigger chunk. Well they nearly turned me off from hunting when hunter # are declining as it is. I can switch the boys over to sports or gun games and buy or raise cows. Let them shoot what they want on the farm and be done.

Edit.. I'm in quite a sour mood lately. Can't get anything completed and new projects/problems popping up. I just don't have the time to get things done. Then I get sour at ever little thing that irritates me like license price increases. It's not a big deal just irritates me when I'm allready irritated.

lots of things up I suppose they want to calculate in for inflation

16 months ago I put a wheel hub assembly in the wife's expedition , did the passenger side this week in 16 months part increased 32% that is 2% a month

your tag is up 39% but I would guess it was 24 for a bunch of years so if they are making up for a decade or more of inflation at once 39% would be about right

ran it on a inflation calculator if you run 2007 to 2022 a 100 dollars in 2007 has the purchasing power of of 140 dollars in 2022 I don't know if the calculator is accurate to the month or to the start of 2022 but close enough

they may well also be raising it once to try to not have to raise it for 4-5 more years

God bless Alaska.

For my $45 general hunting license, I can hunt small game of course, and I can get free tags to shoot three moose, ten wolves, 1 wolverine and I think its 4 black bears, (no tags needed) one brown bear if I utilize it for food.
The last time I hunted caribou up north the bag limit was 5 per day. deer were free no tags the last time I hunted them, (we don't have them here)

At 60 years old residents can get a lifetime hunting/fishing/trapping card for free.

Have a lifetime super combination that I bought 17 years ago, should have bought one back in the early 90's when they were $400. Still has more than paid for itself. Super combo includes hunting, fishing and any required stamps (plus any new ones they come up with)

Can kill 5 deer in the state

I have to buy $48 permit to hunt state land and a federal duck stamp if I hunt ducks.

Trapping license $19 if I want to sell them (can't hardly give a southern fur away)
