Not everyone lives where they can trade fur for goods. But I do agree credit cards are bad for a lot of people.

Credit cards can be a huge problem for some people, and young people especially. I almost fell into that trap back in my early 20's. I was smart enough to see it and got myself out of it. I have never looked back. The wife and I use a credit card for most purchases and no matter how painful, that credit card gets paid off every month. We only have one credit card account. I had to teach this to my wife when we were first married. She brought a lot of credit card debt. I paid it off, and we went to my system. Oddly, my system is pretty easy. Live within your means. My credit score has been well over 800 for decades. The wife's is now also well over 800. We have very little debt, a mortgage and 1 car payment. That is it. One of the most important things you can teach a young person is how to maintain a good credit score. It will help you out all through your life and even save you money with lower interest rates when you do have to borrow.

I buy almost everything with a credit card. Use the points for airplane tickets. Very convenient for us.

There is no interest if you pay it in full every month. My cards don’t have an annual fee either.

Finster, when you first applied for that Cabelas card did they not ask you what your annual income is?

I was wondering with the interest you pay on the credit cards if it offsets the money you get for the airline fares.
