Just as everyone has their own reasons for trapping, be it population control, depredation, money, enjoyment, whatever... I think people choose to fly that flag, or any flag, for many different reasons. Many do so because they had family that fought in that war. Others, like you said (especially common in young male Yankees) just do it to show they're a rebel. A few evil people do so to because they believe it represents their hatred of the black race.

What it means to me though is none of those things. I fly it in remembrance of what this country was before that war, when the rights not guaranteed by the Constitution were left in the hands of the individual states, and when the Federal Government was more of a figurehead and less of the overreaching, smothering monstrosity it is today.

The reason they didn't want to be part of the United states was so they could own slaves. You can't get away from that part of it.

I see the war as the first major case of the Feds overstepping their constitutional authority.
MD in particular was an egregious violation of folks' rights.

And that's how we got to where was are today.

The north could care less if slaves were owned, the north wanted to tax the owners. The south didn't want that they thought they should be owned with out being taxed. The north said if we can't tax then you shouldn't own them at all. That's why the north offered freedom so they could gain soldiers for the war, however being free gave them no more rights as a whole.

Put it to you like this , I like speaking with intelligent people. I feel most people on here are rather intelligent, much more then me and many aspects, I honestly don't think I've too bright of a person honestly. It's a wonderful think to have good civil conversations with people. And ive done it Manny many times here.
Ever sat down with someone and had a good long civil conversation where you and that other person shared ideas? It's wonderful. Regardless of there stance on a matter ,being able to exchange ideas with people in a civil educated manner is great.
Yes somtimes I feel the stuff I post could cause controversy to the average type of people, the ones who would prefer to just scream and jump around like children instead of actually think intelligently. But I feel most on here are again rather intelligent,much more then I in many cases I feel ,so most of the time I just don't see that as an issue. I feel most on here would read my posts and really get what I'm saying. Not just fly off the handle. And I've been told many times I shouldn't try because I'm wasting my time because alot of people on here arnt that bright. But I really don't believe that. I've had too many conversations with some on here . So partly I guess it's because I like proving some of those people wrong.

Keep some things between the mods. after deletion IMO. Keeps things lingering when it isn't otherwise. Again did not bother reading whole post once I got the jest. Quick 2 cents. I feel ya...sometimes trying to bridge what young folk think and what older folk think is tough. Just try not to make a thread when you're all hot and bothered by something without thinking it through first.

A lot of times we can actually answer our own questions if given a little time (or meditation, prayer, etc). I think for the most part the people on here enjoy/respect your insight, but when you go on a tangent you seem kinda petty. If you're not welcome here than most (or all of us) aren't welcome here either! So, keep on keepin on, and please just remember your audience! We are literally all in this together, and can't afford to alienate ANYONE that enjoys the practice of trapping, because we are all a dying breed! Unfortunately!

Basically if it’s something the mods don’t like it gets axed. Just post and see if it’s around the next morning. Keep track of what gets booted and don’t ever bring it up again…problem solved. A lot has to do with who posts it as well.
