I would like to know how you skin coyotes or coons. (I don't skin possums)

By hand, unfortunately.

Look up Coon Creek on YouTube he has some good information on skinning.

I bought The Skinners Friend to help pull down. You use your foot to pull the hide down. Works great!!! I skin in a shed and do not have room for a machine.

Where there's will there's a way. There are many different designs available today for people with minimal space.

Skin em in the field or off your tailgate while they're hot. Skin a lot easier that way.

Watch the big numbers coyote men from Alberta-they rip the hides off them by hand in about 2 minutes.

X2 on skinning them hot in the field. I usually have a dog leash in the truck with a couple of snaps on it. Wrap it around a tree or flip it over a stout limb, split the hind legs and snap a snap on the tendon on each leg and rip it down. Tail strips easy with two sticks when it is hot, or if you want to get fancy the handles of a pair of channel locks works good. You could pack a gambrel if you wanted also.

Those guys are beasts though. Maybe the extra fat of n those coyotes make em easier to rip the hides off when they're cold. Our lean coyotes..its like pulling carpet off concrete.

Agree they are the little western coyotes, not the eastern ones.I have skinned plenty of wolves and a few eastern coyotes. The few eastern coyotes that survive the wolves here are about the size of a female yearling wolf.(50lb or so)
I have never skinned a western coyote but seen thousands put up at the Nafa and Fha warehouses-westerns are much smaller. And Much nicer.

X2
I carry a couple cords or pieces of wire so i can hang animals by their back legs to skin out on the line at times. For the younger trappers it saves from hauling weight out

TILL THAT DAY.....
