retention bonuses up here have become a war between companys. Some pay out $6,000-10,000 just to keep you employed.

When I graduated college with a degree in Anthropology, I took a job at a company that refined tractor trailer brake shoes. My job was to pinch out rivets, by hand, out of the shoes. Eight to nine hours a day, no AC in the shop. Nasty, loud, greasy labor. My hands hurt so bad I could barely drive home. But I did it to pay rent and eat.

Kids and most adults under 40 today are too soft, they've never known adversity, they've had the world handed to them on a silver platter. I have what I have because I worked for it. All these lazy sob's that don't want to work should starve or freeze to death. I have no compassion for them.

I have been trying to figure out how all these people are surviving with out working. We are so short handed that I am refusing work everyday. We are using all the online hiring outfits and have signs out front. Wages are good, full benefits, vacation, and extra paid PTO bonuses for showing up. We absolutely cannot find help. There are businesses closing constantly due to lack of employees in our area. There has to be some kind of welfare/ unemployment benefits that I am unaware of.

Yes I have witnessed quite a few places are not able to have enough workers to maintain the hours they would like to be open due to a lack of people to cover the hours .A t the same time there is a growing number of people set up at busy street corners WITH THEIR HOMELESS/NO JOB /NEED MONEY FOR MY KIDS SIGNS etc etc etc At the same time there are any number of businesses within sight of where they are bumming for money that are displaying help wanter/now hiring signs hanging in the store front or parking lot If you can Get a bigger check for staying home. At least some people will sign up for that way of living

The Gov. will just print more, easy peasy. They will never run out, it just won't be worth anything.

I came home today and my wife was in tears because I was so far behind on billing, estimates, etc and she was trying to help me catch up and was overwhelmed. At some point very soon it will no longer be worth running a business that relies on employees, I'm already researching more stuff I can do alone.

I can eat the sit down Mexican restaurant cheaper than eating at any of the fast food places these days and for not to much more I can eat at a steak joint.

Some companies are still trying to get something for nothing. The cost of premiums went up on our insurance at a cost of 1.25 an hour then offered a raise of 1.19 hour. Asked about paying double time on saturdays and sundays. They said we was being unreasonable. All this while the ceo makes a salary of 700k a year and last years bonus was 1.3 million. Im all for capitalism but when all they care about is board members, CEOs and shareholders. The working man starts getting tired of it.

If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace.

This exactly what the current administration wants. It wants to reset our country to their socialist ideals. The younger generations , have no idea what it's like to be broke and willing to work to better them selves. I see young adults , with kids work a couple weeks , and quit .They don't care , because people today are so used to the good times. They get hand outs , and government housing , free medical , their parents are too afraid , to use TOUGH LOVE.

I left my federal government job when I was 31 and now I get to hunt, trap, fish and spend time with my family full time. I wasnt born into money, I didnt inherit any large sums, I worked for everything I have now.

Cant get more quintessential American Dream than that huh?

Wonder what job you had to work 13 years and be set for life.

I have been looking to change jobs for 5 years and get closer to home than 127 miles so I can be home every day and with my family.

I wast my time applying, testing, interviewing, and I get the job offer . But then I find out not only will it be a 30k+ pay cut that I knew and was willing to take but the insurance will be an additional 500 a month for less coverage than I have, no pension, and the 401 match will only be 1-3% . I smile and then decline the offer.

That's not included the current inflation. I don't live like a rock star I owe on my wife's vehicle and that's it
I drive a 97 ranger.

Employers cry about not being able to get help. They need to be willing to pay people a living wage with benefits to attract and retain them. That's why employers started offering insurance and pensions to begain with.

You get what you pay for. I'm 30 minutes or more early everyday, don't miss work, and enjoy working and doing the best I can do been at the same place almost 17 years and love my job. I'm just no longer wanting to be away from home. We also got sold and I can no longer retire at 57 as I planed . I want to change jobs But I'm not going to bother showing up for wages I have to struggle to pay my limited bills on.

Then you have the other side. I would not hire and keep 1/10 of people out there if they came to work for me. Lazy, entitlement mentality, and not reliable. They wast a lot of resources going through the useless eaters.
