What kind if hunting/trapping map do you use? I use HuntStand but I want to know what is better?

I use OnX. I use huntstand for some things but when it comes to dropping pins I find OnX works better for me. I just drop a red pin with a trap logo when I set one, and then I change it to white when I pull the trap.

I don't know which one is better but OnX does everything I need.

I've tried huntsatnd and didn't care too much for it. OnX works great for me for both hunting and trapping. I know on onX multiple people can log in and see all the markers, (never tried on huntsatnd, so it may too). That's a great feature if the wife needs to find one of my stands, or if dad is helping me check the trap line for a few days.

I've tried OnX but liked HuntStand better

In the 1960's and into the 1990's I used county tax maps ( plat books) and Topographic Maps , even used them in Canada.
Now the maps are just amazing in the detail.

I use an online county plat map to find landowners and check property lines. When I’m in unfamiliar woods I carry a customized topo map of the area and a compass.

Eh...wot?

I like a 1/50,000 topo map of my trapgrounds.

You can download sat images for use when no cell service.

Current sat images are so much better than a topo map that there is no comparison.

That's what I used , loved the older ones as they showed the old logging and mining camps along with old temporary towns. Old roads and home sites. Not many could read them , from my experience. Tried to show others where to go the easiest way and funnel points for game. LOL They just couldn't see it.

Yes they're amazing , but if your phone dies?
Still you need to know how to read a topo map.

Good ones do , you have to click a picture on most , but others use a link on the side.

The last few years many county's no longer used plat books as you have to go on line. OnX has worked great for me the past few years.

Hybrid map on OnX or GoHunt maps will show satellite image overlaid with topo lines. Download maps for your area if you're going to be out of cell service and put your phone on airplane mode. GPS still tracks you and saves your battery life.
