Ok gang,,, has there ever been a legit study on the healthy side of beaver meat? It’s pretty much known that deer is sooo much better for you than beef and pork,,, just curious where it ranks. No doubt the majority of us on here need to watch our cholesterol and triglycerides levels, just wondering if anyone knew

Don't know of any studies, but I imagine it's pretty healthy.

Been eating it for years.
It's right up there with beef IMHO!
Depending on what they eat , seems to give a different flavor/taste , same an beef or muskrat , or anything else.

Our dogs LOVE it. They get super fat in the winter.

We have a neighbor that raises champion border collies..trained for sheep herding.. and he feeds them all winter to his dogs..

He's thrilled to get them

Some of the Iditarod sled guys feed em.to their teams too.

IF IDIOTS GREW ON TREES THIS PLACE WOULD BE AN ORCHARD !

Very healthy meat-as long as it comes out of a non polluted environment.
Beaver can live in some nasty places.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Everytime I eat it, few hours later find myself saying,
Wow! THAT was a healthy one!
And women, children and dogs run away!

Beaver is very nutritious that's why all animals love beaver meat. You could probably live on beaver alone and be very healthy.

Long distance mushers like Iditarod guys use beaver and say its the only thing the dogs will eat when they quit eating.

Fun Fact: Moose meat is the most nutritious meat of all animals on the planet including all the African animals. I would bet beaver is near the top too.

A meat rich diet is very healthy diet.

I would venture to say most any wild animal is going to be healthier than most any domestic raised in corporate farm conditions. They will likely not have fat marbled throughout the meat and be leaner in general due to living conditions. I’m always amazed by the amount of fat on the cows we butcher. My family has made the switch to eat venison for pretty much all of our red meat besides a few steaks and roasts because I believe it is healthier

There's no guarantee about anything we eat! All I know is it's good eating.

Studies have been done. I remember reading somewhere that beaver meat has far more omega 3's than beef. Makes sense because they eat lots of forage that would produce those omega 3's.

Beaver is probably one of the only meats I've never had any bloating or any kind of stomach issues with. ( I should eat more of it)

I've never had a dog that preferred any other meat over beaver meat...and I've had plenty of dogs. They know.

I've never seen any studies and can only guess but I would imagine quality should be quite good.

The only concern that I can think of would be like fish and the quality of the water. And that would be mainly industrial pollutants or heavy metals.

After I ate one I no longer feed them to the dogs or sell them on the meat market. They are mine. I don't trap but a few problem beaver every year. If I traps a bunch I would probably share with the dogs and cats some.

The internet says it's higher in calories than chicken or venison, but lower than beef or pork.

Calories are good. It has 0 carbs, thats the important thing. chocked full of vitamins too.

Google says

Beaver is very low in fat 10% compared to beef ,pork, or chicken and traditional fats are healthier for us.

Its high in protein, iron, B vitamins and potassium.

Beaver meat is way underestimated. Anyone who has tried it will agree. A crock pot is the way to go

I don't have a study but I'll look around. On method, I have followed this video for years. Tim really gave me the confidence to "do it right" and not just pick off a few chunks...
