How many of you leave your traps out before season to get rid of scent?

Your over thinking the scent deal. I set bare handed and only ware gloves when my hands get cold. Unless your using a trap that has already made a catch but not your not resetting in the same location you should be fine. I do recommend using a clean trap at your sets and cleaning your traps at the beginning of the season and again at the end.

Mine are tuned and waxed but are hanging in my garage until I set them in a few weeks. I am not worried about scent here. So many people and farm areas.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

You can try all you want to be scent free and you never will be. Have watched coyotes walk across a open field and when they come across where you walked they smell you.

IF you are somewhere. That aniamal are actively killing livestock OR somewhere that aniaml are educated then use a clean trap every time. For everything else. Just clean best you can after catch. Try. If you can to get all blood and fur off trap then reset. My personal best on remakes ? Caught 9 coyotes in a 44 day period with 1 trap in West Texas near New Mexico line

My traps hang under the eaves of an outbuilding from the time I dye and wax them usually in mid September until our season ends in late February. Not so much for scent control but simply its the easiest place to store them all after I get them out of the totes to prep them. Once prepped I dont handle them with bare hands. Try to replace a trap after a catch and take it in, inspect it for damage, hose it off and those hang exposed to rain etc but are usually pressed back into service by the end of the season with no noticeable decline in catch rate with the "used" traps.

THIS

A human's sense of smell is low compared to nearly all of the animal world, especially canines. If we had their sense of smell our minds would be blown

If they can train dogs to detect cancer cells in the human body, what makes one think they can be scent free with coyotes?
