No I don’t think so, looks to me like it was a falconry bird, if the bird is in what falconers call hack meaning it’s hungry and ready to hunt as soon as released it will literally go after anything it’s facing once released, I have been there and there are a number of falconers using golden eagles to hunt some pretty large game such as antelope and the small steps wolves they have there, think the size of our coyotes, in many cases the bird doesn’t kill what it grabbed it just slows it down for the hunter, usually on horseback to catch up and finish it off Falconers will tell you when In hack any bird of prey will go after anything, even a small hawk will go after a large dog it has no chance of killing a friend who hunts with a goshawk once had his bird go after his black lab, the only thing that prevented it was the bird was still leashed to its perch, but he said that bird was struggling and flopping around straining at the end of it screaming in fury at not being able to get at his dog If it was some kind of hoax it was a dangerous one that kid didn’t have any protective equipment on and that eagle didn’t have is talons sheathed that I could see, it might have had them blunted but so even if that bird just grabbed her she’s going to get injured, if you haven’t delt with one they have enormous power in their feet, I once got to handle a baldy and even through the thick leather glove it felt like I had my hand in a vice

I think nightlife hit the nail on the head. All those people with cameras and stuff makes me think it was a demonstration gone wrong. That little girl was wearing a white dress. Shoulda been half red in the time it took the bird handler to get there. I think the eagle just attacked the small moving target then figured out it was a human.

The caption below the video on YouTube:
6,809,713 views Jul 17, 2018 A golden eagle attacked a 8-year-old girl during an ethnofestival held at the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan. The girl showed up in the restricted area, which was specially blocked off for demonstration of hunting birds in action. The released golden eagle noticed the girl, rapidly flew in her direction and attacked her. The bird held the girl’s back with claws and pecked back of her head. The injuries were slight. The girl was taken to a hospital, where her injuries were stitched up. Specialists say the bird was not hunting, otherwise injuries would be much more severe and the girl would not have survived. Even adults can’t resist such hunting birds, they said.
Eh...wot?

Falconry has always intrigued me! It’s a a an interesting sport and requires a lot of dedication and time, there’s a reason that when it was known as the sport of kings those kings had a staff of trained men taking care of their birds, there is a reason it takes years to become falconer and many drop by it before they get very far in the process Back before they were protected I had a red tail as a pet, also had an owl and Cooper’s hawk at one time or other, if you think cats are standoffish they have nothing next to a bird of prey, they are one of those animals that never really form much if any kind of bond with their handler, not even as the one supplier of food, but I still like them and if I had the time to do so would have one again
