Looking into Fisher Lure. Guy I was talking to suggested one that smelt like black licorice and one that smelled "just gross". The shop I usually get from does not carry any so am left to ordering online. Any suggestions on what lures to use? In Western Canada if that helps narrow down brands.

Night Owl - Crossbones
Dobbins - Skunky Backbreaker
Dunlaps - Hellfire

All Three have worked very well for me.

As others have said "location" is the key. In essence I have never noticed a significant increase of catch between the sweet or skunky lure even in very cold weather.

Sharpes marten lure available from North River Trapping Supplies in Prince George, BC is an excellent marten lure, which also attracts fisher. It is a pleasant smelling sweet lure which others around you will appreciate much more than skunky lure.

Good Homemade Marten/Fisher Lure:
Raspberry jam, beaver castor, anise seed oil and alcohol or glycerol for anti-freeze.

The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

Beaver meat for bait...with dab of beaver lure on it. Then pure quill above the set ...leaning pole set with a 160.... Then take a fatty piece of beaver meat and rub it up and down the pole ...leaving bits of fat and meat on the pole...that's it . I've used those white cotton balls nailed to the base of the pole ...about 8-10 inches up the pole...wicked eye attraction.

Anise oil, for licorice smell.
I use Gusto for marten and wolverine, and while we don't have many fisher here, I have managed to catch 4 with Gusto.

Just doing what I want now.

We can't trap fisher here, but they are attracted to Gusto and the homemade marten lure I've used, both are skunky. I've known others to catch incidental fisher on Hellfire also. Straight beaver castor will also attract both fisher and marten.

Lenon's Super All Call Fisher Lure and tainted chicken, then Gusto for a distance reaching lure and sun-rendered fish oil as a trailing lure has worked well for me.
