Maybe Florida?
Seems to be solid red, even the cities? How do you expect to beat them if you keep letting them run you off your own turf?? I better mark this on the calendar,,,I agree with Boco on this one.

Unless you have a lot of money you want to get rid of I would not be heading to Europe. Fuel and electricity are getting a little on the expensive side. A friend of mine in the Netherlands is building a small well insulated room in his living room for the winter. He has an electric heater to heat it, the rest of the house will not have heat. He said people go hang out in stores because they have heat.

Passed a law that allows the governor to remove an elected sheriff. I need to look into this which is why I said may not. Things are definitely going to go south in the future so I want to be in the best spot. I guess I misinterpreted the bill...it was my understanding that there is legislative (not governor) oversight, so that a co commission can't just oust a sheriff for no reason.

I am not sure and have no researched it yet but a county commission, legislature or governor should have no power to remove an elected sheriff that has not been convicted of a serious crime unless the sheriff is a liberal... That's pretty much how most of the state laws work. Sheriffs are constitutional officers only answerable to the governor and governor can only remove for cause. But it has led to what we have here. Several county commissions have set up their own police departments when they couldn't get the sheriff to step and fetch. It has led to issues such as the sherriff I mentioned barring county police from the jail and courthouse and threatening to arrest the police chief. Or other counties with Sheriff's departments consisting of the sheriff, process servers, bailiffs and jailers.

Agreed...but other than Riley co (because they appoint theirs) no other sheriff was protected from their said commission. I hope I'm not wrong, but I very well could be...if so, I guess I'm part of the problem.

Seems to be solid red, even the cities? Only problem with Florida is 22 million people live there and many more are coming not counting millions of more tourist. Way too crowded for me plus the awful humidity and insects to put up with. Been there once in the summer and ain’t ever going back. Then there are the hurricanes. But it is some peoples thing.

Passed a law that allows the governor to remove an elected sheriff. I need to look into this which is why I said may not. Things are definitely going to go south in the future so I want to be in the best spot. Heck, most states have that. We got that here in Georgia and it only took three different sets of felony charges over a several years for our gutless governor to remove a black Democrat sheriff. 37 state counts of theft and embezzlement not enough. Charges over shooting his girlfriend not enough. Both the above two separate trials years apart, not guilty by a jury in his county. Finally federal charges for abusing prisoners is enough for gutless Brian Kemp to act. That one resulted in a guilty verdict. And gutless Kemp just got reelected. Shows you the problem in Georgia. Our Republicans are scared of black folks. You'd have preferred Abrams? I agree he's gutless, but still the better alternative.
Most in this country have things people in other countries only dream about. Yet, they want America to be more like those other countries.
