Have been running a coyote set about 30 yards out in a corn field. Started off 2 weeks ago with a small amount of red fox gland, 8 coyote later in the same set, still producing. Stopped wearing gloves, no scent control, and making it up as I go. Been surprised at the productivity of this single set. The last three catches have been off a chewed up log shoved in a mound of dirt.

Most challenging remake, one yote had pulled in a bunch of dirt, forming it in a pile over a foot deep. Dug a trench, shoved a piece of conduit in there and it produced.

That's pretty impressive.

8 is great! I very rarely catch coyotes in the same set. As soon as I catch one I need to add a new set. A little snow on top of an old set seems to help. Burns up a lot of traps!

It’s sure been a surprise for me. I made my first 2 catches at the original set, then everything stopped for a few days. They were still coming out, evident by the tracks. Threw a flat set in, caught a female. Then it all picked back up at the original set.
sure glad I didn’t have to litter the field with half a dozen traps to pick up the rest of the pack. Although the secondary flat set provided my first double. Maybe I could’ve caught more if I had that half dozen out.

You’ve sure helped that area’s other wildlife. Good job.

No kidding. One of the coyote I caught in the set was black, grey, and tan. Picture of it alive is in the original post. Going to have it tanned, and hang it up. Otherwise they’re all black tipped red fur. [Linked Image]

Haha! I hope not. Greys are about as mean as a bobcat when caught. Only caught a few Reds but they’re about as docile in a trap as a coyote. They give that initial jump of trying to get away and then realize it’s worthless and lie down.
