Never had this before, had it set at a pond and thought initially an otter went through and was somewhere in the pond. I had it staked on both sides with 2 x 5 foot beaver sticks....it was 40 feet from where I set it and 1 of the sticks was pulled completely out. Probably was gonna be a fine coon too! You guys ever see this with raccoon?

Had an alligator rip a coon out of a DP. The coon's entire leg was still in trap.....ripped off at shoulder. The gator wasn't a large one...only about 8 or 9 ft.

I’d have to go with Swamp. My guess would be a gator.
I’ve had cameras on coon and possum catches with coyotes and bobcats coming by and nothing has ever messed with either one.

I had a coon absolutely destroyed in a foothold. A big boar too. Yours was a dead coon in a bodygripper. Mine was alive and still had three feet and a face full of teeth to fight back with.
I’m guessing it was dogs but I’ll never know.
This is what I walked up on in flashlight where I had a coon dirt hole set.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I read it as trap was set on land and found on land

If in the water and found in water I could see temps being warm enough for a gator to get it
