I think random drug screening should be mandatory for all politicians.

As far as commerce is concerned, NADA. Most companies are required, or have, State and Federal Safety Guidelines that "must"(?) be adhered to in order to maintain such business. . . . plus, the gov. makes $$$$ off "mandatory" training for employees.

Have been doing it for decades. Never had a problem. I can see how it bothers some people. Wouldn't bother me either way whether they do away with it or not

There are problems with guilty until proven innocent random testing, however if there is a job related accident, or drawing taxpayer money for welfare, or blatant in your face drug activity at work....Test away!

I assume your asking for interstate truck drivers?
I don't really see an issue with Randoms it is an inconvenience I am sure for the drivers
and I agree politicians should to prove they are clean same as truckers and pilots , huge amount of public responsibility there.
an issue now is most factories here you get a "random" when you get hurt or have an accident other than that they don't want to know they wouldn't have half their labor if they needed to be clean all the time.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

When I was in the Coast Guard Reserve, we had random urine testing quarterly. A clerk from the office would draw three numbers from a hat. If your SS# ended in any of those three numbers, you were given a bottle to pee into. By year-end, all numbers were selected. As the only officer in the unit, I submitted my sample every quarter to avoid any questions of favoritism.
I had about 15 enlisted members in my small coastal unit. Nobody ever failed. I was later transferred to a large unit in an inland city. One member failed the HIV blood test, but it was never made public. He stopped attending drills and we were told not to contact him. Headquarters told him to see his personal doctor. He later received a discharge. Don't recall any drug failures at all. We had a zero tolerance level for testing. I retired in 1994. I wonder if zero tolerance is still enforced.
We sometimes retrieved bales of marijuana out of the ocean a few times a fisherman would bring us a bale that they found at sea. It was not uncommon for us to receive instructions to go to a set of coordinates and drift or patrol for hours at a time. We had to wear armored vests and life preservers at all times. They were both hot and bulky. A three or four-man crew would carry a .45 pistol, an M-16, and a Rem 870 shotgun loaded with Federal 2 3/4" 00 buckshot. The shotgun was carried with a loaded magazine and an empty barrel. We boarded every vessel we assisted regardless of the nature of the call for assistance. We randomly boarded a few other vessels when directed.

What is the chance we can get a politician to do away with this? It shouldn't be up to the government to tell business whether they can drug test. I, for one, welcome drug testing. It lessons the odds that I have my safety and possible life in the hands of some idiot druggie that obviously couldn't care less about his own life, let alone mine. I like to go home at the end of the day, not the hospital or the morgue. Pretty simple, if you don't like drug testing, find a job where they don't have it.
I BELIEVE IN MY GOD, MY COUNTRY AND IN MYSELF.

I’ve been passing them for 40 years for all the “must be guilty” folks. Wasn’t so much an inconvenience when I didn’t have a whole lot going on but all those years of working my (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) off has come to bear fruit and I have a lot on my plate, especially the things I enjoy. It has come to light that the necessity to have it does not outweigh the Right to be free from it.
