I used a medium clamp to set my 160s and it worked pretty good. It slipped once but nothing bad happened. Anyone have pros/cons? Thx

I use the rope method on my 220s. Never used a 160. My small ones I can set by hand. There used to be a cool bicycle chain setting tool out there, but I never got around to buying it. It ruined my morning when I got a 220 stuck on my arm. Be careful, lol.

I use the rope method as well. The clamp seems easier.

I've not tried a woodworkers clamp. I use the rope most of the time but I also have an RTS and it works great.

I use the locking scissor type.Fast.
I can set them by hand, but its way easier with the setters.Especially when there is a big beaver in a 330 or if you are setting a whole lot of traps each day.

If you need setters to set a 160, I wonder if you should be using that style of trap.

I've been eyeing those, the RTS's are slow but you can use them one handed.

Santa's sleigh just made a pickup at WCS.

Thanks for the replies. Always nice to hear the opinions out there from the knowledge base.

Setters for bodygrips are worth every penny. I like the locking ones as well as the aluminum ones.

I’ll use a rope as an emergency setter or if I forget my setters in the truck, but when I lose my setters I immediately order a new set.

Carry a rope is lighter and takes up less room .But the RTS setter is the way to go . And the bigger the trap the better the Rts does the job. If you are planning to set a number of large size conibears a setter will save time and aggravation

LT GREY I'm sure there are other trappers like me who have weak hands because of age and arthritis. I have difficulty setting even a 110. Thanks to setters, I can set everything up to and including 330s.

I can set pretty much all my conibears by hand, but have a couple sets of the scissor type setters, as well as the hook and bike chain setter's. I've used the rope through the spring eye as well. Always a good idea to pack (setter's) them with you, but also nice to know I can reset without them. I use conibears for ADC work as well as fur trap, so it's just something that is done on a regular basis. I have a mismatched collection of different brands of conibears and will eventually switch over to Belisle as I hear only good about them.

I like the 160's for coon in trail's in a H stand. Caught a 22 pounder in a 160 and all he did was flop head over heals and never moved. Caught him right behind the ears. The only coon I caught in five days he is a 4X

LT Grey Some of us older folks don't have the hand strength we used to have. Lighten up.
