What do you do when your traps aren't catching anything but you know coyotes run by? There's tracks and occasionally scat. Is there too much scent even after 2 weeks? Not enough lure or eye appeal?

Leave your old lured and baited sets and make new blind sets in different spots where you see tracks. When blind setting for canines, dont leave any disturbance at the set.

Dirthole with rotten mice and a wool plug with a squirt of asafoetida on it. If that doesn't get them at your set you need to look at scent control and setup.

Give an illegal alien a fish and he eats for a day. Deport him and you never have to feed him ever again!

x2 might add a touch of a mild lure on a grass stem, just to slow him down. check sets from a distance

Place blind sets up and down the trails from your sets on sign > literally, put a trap pan where they stepped! Bed the trap solid.

My opinion is if coyotes are smelling your lure and bait and regularly walking by not working ur sets then change attractors. Attracting the coyote is their only job and if they aren't then they aren't working. With that said not every coyote that walks by is going to work the set but with uneducated coyotes a good lure or bait should get a reaction at least 80% of the time based what I've seen over the years running 100s of test sets. If u had a trap that was regularly missing or not holding coyotes you would replace it wouldn't u?

Sometimes your set construction can be discouraging coyotes from working your sets too. Sometimes walking too close to set to check it every day or messing with set too often can also discourage coyotes from working sets.

I'm trapping a place right now with some extremely pressured coyotes. There are four different groups of guys actively calling/shooting at them with little to no success. I have found very little sign and didn't think there were any coyotes left there. It's been 9 days since I set up there and I'm just now starting to connect steady. Leave the traps be and let them soak. I drive right by my traps checking them so I don't buy into the "stay away from your sets" deal. The farmer and various groups of coyote hunters don't avoid my sets mainly because they can't tell where they are, so why should I?

If your coyotes are pressured be patient and blend sets well. No loose dirt under their feet unless he steps on the pan

Gotta live up to the nickname...

Driving by is a whole lot different than walking up to them
