Post your current balances and performance over the last 5 years. That's easy current stock balances ZERO How's your year to date earnings there big boy. TODAY EVERY stock is down as of 254 pm according to the mouth on the market report. I didn't check only to see if the comments I received about Fridays prediction as the day to sell before a big swing came true !!! just saying Mine ain't bad. Although it's not my thing but I hope you realize people make money on the way down as well. In fact as sure as you are I can't hardly imagine you didn't short the S&P. Today could be a beginning of a trend or it could be a.normal trading day. Anyhow it's 25 degrees and the welders are welding I got to get back to working in the brutal cold.

IT will bounce up and down but at some point it's going to crash worse than the great depression! It's no longer ran on facts and figures, just fantasy's and emotion's. Basically just a big casino now. Im 57 and figure by time i retire EVERYTHING ive sunk into it will be gone same it evaporated in '08-'09 only i dont have another 20 years for it to bounce back up.

I am in a similar position to you JTrapper, abeit a few years older. About five years before retirement I began to reduce my C fund ((tracks SP500) and increase my G fund (lower returns, principle is safe). I went from 70/30 to 65/35 then 50/50. The G fund is now paying a hair under 4%. Hopefully the C fund will increase long term and exceed inflation. I guess to summarize my thoughts it is to diversify and be comfortable with your tolerance for risk.
